This is why I quit playing Splinterlands

It is with great sadness that I regretfully announce that I will no longer be participating in Splinterlands battles. Yesterday, my daily quest completion streak that dates back to last year was finally broken.

Getting out of doing daily quests is something that I have thought about for a long time but could never bring myself to do it. In fact, I originally planned that I was going to take this action one week to the end of this new season but I gave it a second thought and decided to pull the trigger today.

Thanks to my decision, I'll no longer be participating in ranked battles, tournaments, and daily quests. However, from time to time, I will participate in guild battles to enable me to earn merits that I'll invest in Gladius monsters.

Why though?

Last season I saw my season rewards and it was ass. I reckon this is the case because of the increased competition in the system.

@revisesociology actually mentioned the fact that competition is a factor and then also mentioned something else that has been on my mind for quite some time. Other than him, @olebulls also mentioned the same thing, and it is something that @sharkthelion has been doing for quite some time.

The "something else" is about going into the rental market and seeing how much value I could pull from it. I figured that instead of selling off my monsters, I might as well put them to work in rentals.

For what it's worth, I don't think I'll actually ever sell off all my monsters because of my emotional attachment to them. However, I've not really been satisfied with the returns they've been giving me from daily and seasonal loot chests.

Now they'll be working their asses off in the rental market and making money for daddy.

At the time of writing, the market value of my deck is approximately $14k. I don't know the profit margin for leasing but I'd be grateful if I could get like 2000 DEC per day from all my leases.

2000 DEC per day is approximately $20 per day in today's price of DEC, and that's a sweet deal if you ask me. I hope people will take my cards off the market and put them to good use.

For me though, the best part about this arrangement is that it doesn't affect my SPS airdrop. Since all the monsters are mine, the airdrop manager rewards me daily SPS airdrop for their collection power.

What's the plan?

Seeing as I'm probably moving into another type of Splinterlands business where I put monsters to work, I've decided that I'll be adding monsters to my deck every day.

I'll not put any amount to it, but instead, just do it randomly to simulate daily quests. Some days I buy potions and shitty monsters, while after saving for some days, I buy Epic and legendaries. I'll even throw in some gold foils along the way.

The plan is to stack more monsters and put them into the rental market. Also, the 8th of December couldn't come any sooner.

This new approach will affect my long-term plans to hold CL packs, especially considering the passive income opportunity that cards offer. I reckon I'll open about 80% of my packs, then put those monsters into the rentals market as well.

Assuming this scheme works out, I'll be making a profit from profit and investing the profit to make more profit. The goal is to have multiple streams of passive income and Splinterlands adds to the list.

Plans for another game?

Splinterlands has been such a big hit in the NFT space, it will take something monumental to top it. However, there are some gems out there that could have potential.

I'll start looking at how I can take other games a bit more seriously now. I've tested out a number of games including Brewmaster, Dcity, The Rockstar game, and Rabona, but haven't really pinned down anything substantial in any of the games.

I earn tiny passive income from Dcity and Rabona but that's without any serious investment. DCity hasn't really gotten off the ground yet, despite being around for some time and I reckon that might be due to the internal politics of the game.

My sister also mentioned Dcrops, but I haven't actually looked at it. She said it's one of those passive income types of games, so it might be worth a shot.

Outside of Hive, I already downloaded a Ronin wallet and the other things required to start Axie infinity but I pulled the plug because of the cost of entry. I'm also not patient enough to wait for the scholarship thingy, and it just seems too tedious for me.

I use to play EOS Knights before but fuck that. I also registered on one other EOS game but again, fuck that.

I got wind of Binamon but haven't actually explored it properly. There's some level of excitement about the game, so it might turn into a gem.

There are options available for me, so I just have to calm down and make my decision. Time will tell which direction I finally decide to go.
