Monsters you could flip, Collection power and rental revenue

Chaos Legion cards came as a fresh opportunity for me. They represent an opportunity to build my deck and at the same time, prepare for the expansion of Splinterlands.

Just like every other set of monsters, there are some nice deals that you could use to get ahead in Splinterlands, and it all depends on what you're trying to achieve. In any case, flipping monsters for profit and increased SPS points is the bottom line.

Yesterday, I decided to explore the market value of monsters in the lower cadres to see if there are opportunities. I noticed that there were some nice deals between gold foil Commons and rare monsters that one could flip for profit.

So during my market search, I noticed that the Gold foil version of a certain Common Chaos Legion monster is more expensive than the gold foil of some rare monsters. Immediately I saw this, I realised that this should be an opportunity to scalp some profit and increase my collection power as well.

The common monster I'm referring to is Goblin Psychic and it's currently valued at $12.87. When I sold mine, it was worth about $16 but since yesterday, the market has tumbled a little bit.

Flip it

Anyway, there are a number of rare gold foil monsters that are valued in the $8-12 range. Naturally, all of them offer more collection power than Goblin Psychic but to be completely honest, they are crappy cards but you never know, things could turn good for them.

Back when Untamed packs were a thing, I use to look out for opportunities like this where I can sell a common card and then buy a rare monster in its place.

So yesterday, when I made the trade, I sold two gold foil Goblin psychic for $16 each and then bought two gold foil rare Dhampire Stalker for roughly $8 a piece. So in this process, I've increased my collection power by 750.

Selling two common gold foils deducts 250 Collection power, but it actually adds to SPS points if you hodl. Anyway, we're not considering DEC, so moving on, adding two rare gold foils adds 1000 collection power.

So in essence, I've added 750 collection power to my deck. I also added a monster with intrinsic value and one that could also have its own day in the market.

More flipping to come

Over the years, I've constantly looked out for these opportunities to add value to my deck through this process. I've noticed that most of the good deals are in gold foils.

Right now, I'm not participating in battles, so I won't miss anything in the common gold foil I flip for rare monsters. However, if you use the common monster for battles, then you should give it a good thought before selling it.

Personally, even when I use to battle, I hardly used gold foils because their level was too low to participate in my battles with level 5 summoners. This means that they were predominantly used for trading.

Now that I'm focused on the rental market, I think this approach will serve a greater purpose. Now I can flip monsters, make a profit and then put the new monsters into the market for even more profit in the process.

General sales on my mind

Right now, I'm really looking forward to the general sale. buying 250 packs and adding all those Chaos legion monsters to my deck will add so much value. I don't want to jinx it but I'm fairly confident of pulling a couple of gold foil cards that I'll sell to raise my initial capital.

Immediately I raise my initial capital and then save it in stables, everything else is profit. I'll have a lot of monsters that will be generating even more rental revenue for me.

My prediction for this round of sales hasn't quite gone as I thought. Things have slowed down quite a lot, and at this pace, it will take the entire period for all the packs to be sold.

I'm not bothered though, because that just gives me more time to accumulate funds for the general sale. I'm already halfway to my $1k for packs. However, I'll also need an extra $60-100 worth of potions to ensure I get the best outcome from the draw.

There's so much happening already and there's still so much more to come. I can smell Christmas in the air, the crypto market is looking healthy, and 2022 is on the sidelines preparing to flip the script like the star player of a football team that's on the bench.

Those are excellent flipping opportunities. Especially flipping common cards for gold foil rare cards. I will have to start practicing this strategy.
