Passive Ranked Brawling seems more profitable than renting

After less than two weeks of renting out my Splinterlands assets, I've concluded that it is more rewarding to participate in ranked battles than renting out all my assets. Don't get me wrong, renting out has its perks but from my perspective, participating in ranked play will be more rewarding.

After renting out full-time for a period, I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that the revenue generated from leasing out my assets is not quite at the level I require. So, with that in mind, I decided to pull out all my assets for rent and will now be participating in ranked battles.

I know it seems like I'm indecisive and in a way, you'd be right but I just have to keep tinkering until I find the right balance. I always do the most to operate at optimum conditions, thus enabling me to squeeze out maximum value from my peculiar situation.

Right now, I find myself at a crossroads that mandates my decision to go back to ranked battles. In fact, even without the crossroad, I would have still gone back to ranked battles because I really miss playing Splinterlands.

Maximum value

At the time of writing, I have a personal Splinterlands deck that is worth around $2100. My deck was achieved through mostly opening packs and some strategic purchases from the market.

At the time of writing, I also have a personal collection power of 146, 760, making me eligible to brawl in either Gold 1 in wild category or diamond 3 in modern category. So, generally speaking, I reckon that I could win some matches anywhere I decide to brawl in.

I originally planned to grow in the wild category but it might be time to accept that I'm now one of the modern players and just stick with the modern category. I have some monsters from the old days but I'll generally struggle to compete with most of the brawlers on the wild side that own some of the premium monsters of old.

In any case, the most important thing to note is that I've decided to pull out all my monsters from rent listing and then slowly get back into ranked play.

One or the other

So these days, everything always comes back to our relocation plans and my Splinterlands assets also influence the plans. On one hand, it is possible that when we get to crunch time, I could end up auctioning off most of my assets but I'm hoping I won't have to.

So, instead of selling off all my NFTs that will almost certainly have a lot higher value in the future, I figured that I can try to squeeze out more value from them through ranked play.

I've been creeping a bit on Twitter and threads, looking out for information about Splinterlands. Out of the lot, I have been enamoured by a couple of screenshots of people finding a ton of SPS tokens in their reward chests.

Now I know it is mostly down to luck and all but the only way I can stand a chance of getting that luck is if I get back to ranked battles.

Basically, what I'm saying is that while rental revenue is predictable, safe and slow, I prefer ranked battles with randomised rewards that also include the potential of finding other NFTs, potions and stuff like that.

With some luck, I might not have to sell my assets and could even find some extremely valuable rewards in chests. However, this will only be possible if I go back to ranked battles.

In less than two days, all my assets will be back in my possession and I'll start doing all the necessary upgrades to enable me to be competitive in either Gold3 of wild or Diamond 3 of modern, as the situation warrants.
