Staking, delegating and paying bills

My plan for the end of this year is to accumulate 10K HBD. That plan just took a small hit because I had to touch my savings.

I'd have normally preferred not to but sometimes, you have to do what you have to do. It was an emergency of sorts because the reason I need the funds is 100% a necessity.

Last year I did a mega internet plan that was supposed to last for a year but it finished faster than we anticipated. However, I must say that we absolutely enjoyed ourselves while using it.

Well, the fun is over and now we have to sort it out again. I thought about different ways of paying for it and had even put a few Splinterlands monsters on the market realising I had savings.

It was kind of crazy that I completely forgot that I had over 2.3K in savings but that's what happened. Hopefully, I'll be able to grow my savings to 100K in the future and then forget about it again.

So, I've pulled out a couple of hundred dollars from savings to sort out my necessities. This pushes me back but as we say in pidgin English, "na who dey alive dey save"(If you're dead, you can't save).

Staking to infinity

I recently went on a staking spree across all my accounts to grow my passive income earning. I figured that since I'm spending from my savings, I might as well increase my earnings.

For a while, I've had some tokens staked that haven't been quite active. So thanks to some information from @flauwy, I found the Curation cartel and decided to make those tokens work for me.

At the time of writing, I had idle Vyb, Ctp, and Oneup tokens that weren't delegated to any of my hive-engine alts. I also won't be able to curate regularly on them because I'm already extended on a number of other platforms that I currently curate on.

I decided to delegate these tokens to @vyb-curator,@ctp-curator and @oneup-curator respectively. These accounts will handle curation on those front-ends and then pay me a daily dividend while taking 5% operational cost.

I haven't checked their curation proficiency but whatever it is is higher than the zero percent APR that I've been getting from my curation activities. This will then free up time for me to earn from the Leo, Sports, Cine, Splintertalk, and Proof of brain that I currently curate on.

Curating on Hive top layer alone is a full-time job that requires time and dedication. The second layer tokens offer a more complex but rewarding way to earn from curation.

My hope is that in the future, I'll be able to cover my monthly bills through curating alone. That will still be some way down the line, so for now, all I can really do is keep on staking as much as I can and growing my account while balancing out with our life requirements. Not much else I can do at this point.

Never heard of pidgin English but the saying is completely true. Good luck with your goals for this year.

Hi @belemo, I'm new to delegating second layer tokens. I just never knew this was possible. I was wondering, are you using a trial for Leo as well? Also, do you use token-specific accounts to not use up all the voting power of your main account? All tips and trick to squeeze out some extra gains are welcome :-)

Yeah I use alternate accounts for curating. I vote manually on Leo with my alternate account.

It's really quite fascinating how Hive has built a community of curators not just for the top layer, but also within the tribes. Also, your post reminded me that I probably don't do curation on most second-layer coins and should just delegate them 😂

There are so many ways to get tokens flowing in. This is what makes Hive so amazing and how the spreading of opportunities is something that everyone should cherish.

We are truly fortunate to be able to tap into so many projects at the same time. It is really helpful to have the money flowing in daily.

Over time, it all adds up.

HBD savings can offer the means for a monthly living without tapping into your other promising cryptocurrencies. Why to sell HIVE cheap if you can use HBD and hold onto Hive until it reaches a goot price...
