Time eventually pays dividend

Time is probably the most valuable resource in the world. It's the one thing that nobody can afford and so whenever your time is up, it's time to go.

Until our time is up though, we have time and we have to use the priceless resource judiciously. Whether you decide to chill or work, it's up to you.

Just like money, and every other valuable resource, time can also be invested. You simply have to figure out how or where you want to invest your time, and if you do it right, it'll pay dividend.

Time pays a dividend on the blockchain

Blockchain-based investments are typically time-dependent. Often time, just simply sticking around and participating for long period can pay hefty dividends.

If you look around, you'll find that the people we refer to as "OGs" are just people that have stuck around for a longer period. Naturally, you can't get to their level since you've spent a shorter amount of time but I reckon you could bridge the gap with money.

The point of this post isn't to talk about closing the gap, but to highlight the importance of sticking around for a long time. Also, even if you use brute force(money) to force your way in, you're still not an OG because time is something that comes with other resources.

For example, time breeds confidence and trust, which are also resources that can't be bought. Again, it's possible to expedite the process but it won't be as sustainable as one who built theirs with time.

It's happening around you

If you look around the crypto space, you'll find many projects that are benefiting from time. I mean, some of them are useful and others are memes, but they all have time working for them.

I think it's described as the lindy effect where people expect something to be around simply because it has been around. Projects like Dogecoin for example that make no sense have simply been around because they're around.

So what this means is that if you can find a way to ensure that you're around and available, then eventually it'll pay dividends. Also, simply being around for as long as possible ensures that you'll be around for the foreseeable future.

Investing your time

Just like blockchain projects, people that constitute the blockchain also earn dividends from time. A blockchain is nothing without the people and so, if the constituent people invest their time right, they will also succeed.

Using blogging as an example, sometimes, simply being around and consistently churning out useful content will eventually pay off. However, if you invest your time better by sourcing out ways to increase your traffic, the dividend will come faster.

This is the same with investing in games like Splinterlands where, yeah, early investors are eating gucci. It's not solely because they played the game before everyone else but more because they invested their time into growing their portfolio.

You can't be like the OGs if you're just starting now. So don't look at their million-dollar portfolios and fantasize, that's a waste of time.

Instead, just acknowledge that it's possible to grow a portfolio to that amount and then focus on your unique position. If you spend your time right, take lessons from the OGs and be brave enough, you'll also be an OG in your own right someday.

True you will be an OG in your own right if you invest your time, talent and passion into something. Nothing happens right away. Everything takes patience planning and hard work.

Word mate! Stop daydreaming and start building. That is the way to go. Those who have put time here and hodled are in better financial positions today. There is still a huge opportunity to do the same even now (speaking to the newbies).

You are totally right. Even off-chain, when you invest time and effort, it will pay dividends. When you become a plumber and build your business, become a master in your trade, you will earn good money. When you become a writer and hone your skills for many years, you will become better, you will get recognized. Everything we as humans can do, we will do better over time and the ones who put in the work, will get rewarded in one form or another. I'm sure of it. The problem with most people - including myself - is sticking to one (or two) thing(s) and perfect it (them).
