Splinterlands EOS Rewards Comparison - Silver vs Gold Chests

I'm a few days late on sharing my rewards - I hope you still find it relevant. Last season I was earning gold chests and I will compare it to my first season where I was earning silver chests.

End of Season Rewards

I was overall pleased with my rewards. I earned 50 gold chests. I was a little disappointed in the quality of cards. No gold foil cards or epic/legendary cards. I was excited to get a pack which included a summoner. I was expecting a better haul of DEC - I actually earned less in gold with 50 chests than in silver with 77 chests. That is surprising considering the math says 77 silver chests would equal around 19 gold chests. I think the RNG was not great to me in that category.

Comparison to Last Season

I thought it would be interesting to compare my rewards over the past two seasons since I was earning different chests. I didn't put as many hours into the game for the current season, so I didn't expect to get as many chests. The cost of gold chests is also significantly higher. Overall, I was happy with the 117 gold chests. That was significantly down from the 208 silver chests I earned last season.

The amount of chests really hurt my number of cards and burn value. I expected to earn a lot more DEC with the gold chests. As I said above, I think the RNG was not good to me this time. It was nice to get a pack to open. It included a summoner which is a nice bonus - the reward cards are nice to have, but I'd rather get a pack.

Conclusions

I'm going to continue to try strive for gold chests. The cost is fairly high with end of season rentals. I think the DEC I have to use to rent at end of season will be paid in full in reward chests.
I'm looking forward to seasonal renting. I'm not sure if it will drive the costs of renting down - it will at least make it less stressful on the last day. I am already behind on earning chests because I only played on mobile for a few days during the new season. The new mobile update was a huge plus - I wouldn't have been able to play at all a week ago.
