Splinterlands - Battle Weekly Challenge - Kulu Swimhunter

Hello fellow members of the Splinterlands community, how are you? I hope so.

We are gathered here once again for this amazing and exciting weekly battle challenge.

In today's post I will, as usual, share more information about the creature of the week, what its characteristics, its use, its techniques, and at the end, how it was used in battle, the result and the learnings.

So there we go.

This week's theme is "KULU SWIMHUNTER".

This is a common water creature that was introduced to the game with the Chaos Legion pack.

It has the default status at its first level of 4 life points, 2 ranged attack points and 2 speed points.

To enter the battlefield Kulu's cost is 4 mana points, so its status, for its mana cost, makes it a cost effective creature.

It has, even at its later levels, no abilities, which makes it a 'distinguished' card, since it is more common for creatures to have an ability that is, rather than no ability at all.

This week's battle had only 12 mana cap points, making it a battle with as little mana as possible, making team building a bit difficult.

All the elements were available and there were no rules, making it a complete battle, but with low mana.

So, as Kulu is a creature of the water element, as narrated above, I obviously chose a water team to participate in the challenge, and to assemble my team.

Furthermore Kulu has ranged attack and does not have the ability to attack in the first position, so my strategy was to add as many creatures as possible in the initial part of the team and Kulu at the end so that it could perform as many attacks as possible.

So, for the team I chose the following creatures:

  • Kelya Frendul as summoner for granting an additional point of defense and an additional point of speed to all my creatures.
  • Albatross to "inflate" the team for its low mana cost, only 1 point.
  • Hardy Stonefish also for its reduced mana cost, but as an attack possibility and armor point, to be increased by Kelya Frendul.
  • Ice Pixie to cause magical damage to opposing creatures that would eventually be added to the battle, even because the "Cursed Windeku" of the death team has been used a lot in battles with 12 mana points
  • Kulu swimhunter at the end to participate in the challenge and so that he could perform as many attacks as possible before going to the first team position.

So the battle beggins.

I was surprised by my opponent who set up for battle an earth team composed of Obsidian, Chaos Agent, Regal Peryton, and Khmer Princess: Obsidian, Chaos Agent, Regal Peryton and Khmer Princess, that is, a team focused on magic damage.

With this option, the opponent almost completely nullified the benefit to be granted by my summoner, in this case, an additional armor point, since for magic damage armor is insignificant.

That was the composition of the battlefield:

From my opponent's choices I could already conclude that it certainly wouldn't be an easy battle, most likely already doomed to defeat.

Right away my albatross was defeated by Regal Peryton, and my Ice Pixie defeated the opponent's Chaos Agent, so Regal Peryton went to the first position of the opponent's team, but unfortunately Hardy StoneFish and Kulu simply missed their attacks on such creature, which could have reduced his life to only 3 points, and not 6 as the second round ended.

And at the end of the round Hardy was still defeated by Khmer Princess' magic damage.

The situation was already resolved in my defeat, since my ice pixie would be defeated in the next round and my Kulu would no longer attack.

image.png

And what I predicted actually occurred, Regal Peryton early in Round 2 defeated my Ice Pixie, causing Kulu Swimhunter to go to the top spot, and as such, that was the end of the battle.

image.png

The battle certainly did not happen as expected, especially as a result of my opponent's choices, his option for a magic team put an end to any hope of victory on my part.

Regardless of this fact, the team was well hurt by the reduced mana cap of the battle, and Kulu can certainly be better used in battles with higher mana cap, anyway it is not one of my favorite creatures since, as I said in the beginning of this post, it has no ability, making it only a damage card, which is not high.

So this was another challenge week, I hope you enjoyed it and thanks for reading.
