Splinterlands Battle Weekly Challenge - Pirate Captain
Hello Splinterlands players, how are you? I hope so
And here we are once again for the Splinterlands weekly battle challenge.
Let's talk a little bit about the card of the week and my battle for this week.
This week's theme is "Pirate Captain".
Pirate Captain is a common water element ranged card that at its starting level has only 1 attack, which is very little, 2 speed, and 3 life.
On the other hand, to participate in battle, Pirate Captain only consumes 3 mana, which makes it possible to fit it into many battles, although most water teams are usually formed to do magic damage.
The card has, by default, the Snipe ability, meaning Pirate Captain will target an opponent's card with range, magic, or no attack that is not in first position.
Starting at 6th level Pirate Captain gets the ability inpire, which grants one more melee attack to all friendly cards.
Besides all this Pirate Captain is a "starter" card, meaning that you can use the card in battle even without owning a copy of it, making the game easier for beginners like me. 😆
My current battle status is 1,133 rating and I'm in the "Bronze III" league, so those are the characteristics of the Battle Weekly Challenge, and the choice of battle rules was as follows:
My opponent in his last 4 battles has chosen 3 times the water team and once the life team.
The water team usually used by him was composed of Spineback Turble, Ice Pixie, Enchanted Pixie, Venari, and Medusa.
So, although a low mana battle, he would probably use a water team.
So, since this week's card makes up the water team, but has no magic attack, and my opponent would probably choose a water team, I decided to choose the summoner Bortus for his reduction of magic damage of the opponent's team.
And my team was then composed as follows:
Spineback turtle as my main tank, Ice Pixie for costing only 2 mana and for its magic attack, and finally Pirate Captain.
So the battle beggins.
Round 1:
As I imagined the opponent chose the water team and composed it with Cocatrice, Venari Wavesmith and Ice pixie.
The first round started out balanced with attacks from both teams, with no cards being defeated.
Round 2:
The second round started well on the way to Cocatrice's defeat, which happened right on my Ice Pixie's first attack.
Then Venari and Ice Pixie attacked my spineback turtle, reducing its life to 2, and Pirate Captain missed his attack on Ice Pixie.
Round 3:
The second round started well on the way to Cocatrice's defeat, which happened right on my Ice Pixie's first attack.
Then Venari and Ice Pixie attacked my spineback turtle, reducing its life to 2, and Pirate Captain missed his attack on Ice Pixie.
Round 4:
My defeat was already on its way, with the Ice Pixie being defeated right away, causing the Pirate Captain to come to the first position and then not make any more attacks.
From then on all I could do was wait for my defeat.
Round 5:
This is the end of the line for me.
As is already known to almost all Splinterlands players, Venari Wavesmith has taken over the bronze league and is used in the vast majority of all games, especially for its low mana cost and its ability to grant armor to friendly cards.
My team choice was not bad at all, however the mana cap was very low, which made Pirate Captain go right to the top spot.
Anyway, if it wasn't for Venari I believe I would have had a good chance of winning the battle, but it wasn't this time.
Thanks for reading.

You do well to look at the battle formations deployed by your opponent in his previous battles.
You did not win the battle, but one learns more from defeats than from victories.
