Should the Halfling Alchemist Be in Your Deck or Stay at the Shire?

Who is the Halfling Alchemist?

The Halfling Alchemist is an epic promo card that has the unique ability “halving”. The ability causes any monster successfully hit by the alchemist to have its attack power reduced by half, rounded down. This ability makes the Halfling Alchemist a vital addition to any player's deck, and his unique ability is not his only draw.

In lore the Halflings are a scarce race of only a few hundred that choose to look towards a brighter future. The alchemist of the race are considered to be the most powerful, and for a good reason. They use their magic to break down the weapons of their enemies and enhance of power of thier own.

"When halved correctly, any object, or person, can become exponentially more powerful."

The Halving Ability Half.PNG

First, let us expand on why the halving ability is just so powerful and able to change the tides of battle. The ability cuts the opposing monster's attack in half, rounded down. The rounded down part is key as this means a monster with 3 attack will drop to a measilly 1, or they may go from a mighty 5 to a manageable 2.

If your front line monster has the void or shield ability they may take no damage, that is if Mr. Halfling can hit his attack. Did I forget to mention that this ability affects forms of combat, yep even that pesky magic.

If you are a newer player to the Splinterlands you possibly have never seen this ability, and that is because only 2 cards in the game have it and one is a gladiator. The other card that gets this ability is: Trapp Falloway. But, he can only be used in brawls, comes from gladiator packs, and must be level 4 to get the ability. So, it's pretty unlikely you will encounter Trapp Falloway anytime soon.

His Stats

The Halfling Alchemist does not only boast a fantastic ability, but also appealing stats. He is a neutral, range based monster with a mana cost of 2. He has 1’s in all his stats at the base level, including one piece of shiny armor. He is a slow fellow, but the one armor allows him to absorb one opportunity attack and is often enough to allow him to get his one vital attack off.

Once leveled up to 4, the redemption ability is unlocked. Another phenomenal ability that is scarcely seen. The ability deals 2 damage to all emeney monsters when the Halfling Alchemist is slain. This ability means that even if the alchemist dies without getting a single attack off, he is still a use to the team.

Due to his low cost, range, nature, and a multitude of other factors the Halfling alchemist pairs amazingly with Yodin. Although for all those reasons the Halfling Alchemist pairs well with most any composition.

Miscellaneous Information

Based on the card’s border it will be allowed in the modern format, something very few current promo cards can claim. Another being Chain Golem, a fantastic and well-rounded card that deserves more credit than I see it get. As a side note, the two make a fantastic combination.

The Halfling Alchemist has recently been experiencing some rapid changes in price. Within the last week the price nearly tripled at one point, but has gradually been dropping in price.

The Alchemists use “Aether Shen”, a form of alchemical magic, to break down weapons in lore.

Wrapping Up

In my opinion the Halfling Alchemist has a place in my deck anytime and is an extremely versatile card. He can be played very frequently and is not often seen played, at least in Gold league below, at least from my experience. Even if another card was to be introduced with the same ability, it would have a tough time competing against the Halfling’s low cost and neutral nature.

Hello, @besfriend! This is @jcrodriguez from @OCD team.

We saw that you already posted your first post here in Hive! Congratulations and welcome!

I also play splinterlands. Welcome to the best platform and the best game on this blockchain. Maybe we will cross paths in a tournament or clan battle. It is your first post. It is important that you make an introduction to the community, is my suggestion.

As a sample of what an intro post is, you can refer to this intro post for reference:

Keeping Up With the Buzz - My Introduction to the Hive Community

There's no specific format on how you do your intro post, but there is some suggested content that we would love to see in your post. Information like who are you and where you're from, how did you discover Hive or who invited you, what types of content you want to see here and the types that you want to produce, and what are your expectations in this platform. There's no pressure on this. You can choose whatever information you would like to share.

You can explore the communities that you may like in this post: OCD Communities Incubation Program. There is a wide variety of topics, you are sure to find the right communities for your content.

You may encounter RC (Resource Credits) issues when trying to comment/post because you don't have enough Hive Power in your account yet. You can fix this with a one week temporary delegation through the Gift Giver Site. Another solution is for the person who recommended Hive to delegate some Hive Power to you.

If you are looking for tips and information as a Hive newbie, click here: newbie guide. They are easy to understand and useful for learning how the platform ecosystem works.

Please be aware that Hive is a bit different from other social media platforms since you are monetizing your blog, so it is important not to include content that you don't own without sources (and it shouldn't exceed 50% of the post). For more information, check this post - Why and How People Abuse and Plagiarise by hivewatchers.

If you have questions or concerns, you can hop into OCD's Discord server and we'll gladly answer your questions.

Lovesniper will follow you, we hope to see your presentation post soon!
