Is playing play2earn game profitable?

My answer is it depends on you. If you play very well you will have a chance to get rewards but before this you need to spend a lot of money in the game.

Is this profitable for every player?

No. It is not. Only a few will get most of the rewards. So basically the one who invested the most will got most rewards and mid-level players can sell their tokens and/or in game assets/facilities/cards to them. The one who invest only a little bit of money will get almost no rewards. They are hoping to get their account stronger and then got a few rewards. So top and bottom layer cause the buying force and middle-layers will only buy if it is necessary.

But as a whole we are losing. Let say game owner sell 1 million dollar worth of in-game assets and they give out the rewards. So all of the money they sell will not give back to the players. They have to hire server, buy domain and hire developers. And game owner will take some money for him too. So some are already lose their money.

But it is lucky that some people are not playing it for money. Confused? Some players are youtubers or twitchers so they play games to get money from the channel they are video streaming. Some played for fun. Some players from hive can get money back by creating posts about the game. Some people are trying their luck by spending a few bucks. After they learn it is not easy to earn money from the game then they quit.

A play2earn game needs continuous stream of buyers so they try to pull new comers in. But one day they will stop eventually. At that time they need to create more in-game assets to create another buying spree. So it is like a rat race that will never stop. They need to get the tokens back into their hands. If there are many tokens circulated then price will fall eventually and people will stop playing.

If you play Clash of Clans or State of Survival, you will notice that they keep creating new in-game assets. Only the difference is you can play them free but you have to spend your money if you play play2earn games.

If rewards are too go more people will join the game but rewards can not be paid for long term. If rewards are not good, people are not interesting to join. So at the start of the game they give very good rewards. Some time after game start they started reducing the rewards. This happened in all popular game. This is a good for the game itself because it needs to be sustainable for long term. Another thing is the player who joined early will get most of the profits so try to join early if you think this game is profitable. Joining in the middle or late will cost you a fortune.
