Splinterlands is a play to earn game powered by the hive Blockchain formerly steem Blockchain. Utilizing the web 3.0 technology, each card is a non fungible token owned by each player. The cards are divided into Monsters and summoners with stats and abilities that can be used in so many ways based on each players creativity.

These cards can be sold, purchased or rented on the marketplace for USD (United States Dollars) or Splintershards token (SPS) which which is gradually replacing DEC (Dark energy crystals) which was the official currency of the game. This is a great feature for players who want to invest or make money even while playing the games. Players are also rewarded with different cards just by playing the game and climbing up the ladder each season.

The Splinterlands cards are divided into summoners and monsters. Players are required to choose one summoner when going into battle, which bonuses monsters. Players can then choose from monsters within that summoners deck depending on what strategy works best and also based on the rules of each battle. Summoners are divided under seven elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Life, Death, Dragon, and Neutral. Just like other crypto games, each card has different rarities which determines its value, scarcity and in game abilities.

Splinterlands is a free game but if you want to earn rewards, participate in tournaments or join guilds, you have to purchase a Summoner’s Spellbook that costs $10 which when compared to the amount required to earn with other games is incredibly low.

How much you can make from this game is solely dependent on you. You can decide to just have fun playing it free or have fun and make money as well. With splinterlands there are many ways to make money asides trading cards,

• Ranked battles
• Leaderboard rewards
• Looted chest
• Tournaments
  But all these are dependent on just how much you are willing to put into the game.

Unlike other games, splinterlands can be played on your mobile phone. The restrictions on where certain games can be played is not a problem with splinterlands, you can play on whatever device(Android, ios and laptop) makes you more comfortable, your laptop for when you are home and more comfortable or on your phone when you are out and playing on the laptop is not convenient. You can make progress anytime and anywhere you are without missing out on the action and fun.

For me this is it's biggest advantage especially with people who don't have access to laptops and want to be a part of crypto currency games.

The sweetest part of playing splinterlands is the splinterlands community on Hive. Splinterlands has a large community of connected players to blog and connect with. A large percentage of players are actively sharing tips, battles and strategies that are very helpful in playing the game. There are also contest that allow players share their creativity actively.

For example, the splinterlands art contest is always challenging the community to come up with amazing artwork all inspired by splinterlands. The creativity that is delivered each week has been really amazing and fun to be a part of. There are other contest that helps us all connect and have fun even outside the game.
