BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge!

avatar

A new version of Share your battle with the water deck is here again. A new opportunity to show off my most developed deck in Splinterlands. This week we'll take a look at this imposing card that is one of the most versatile tanks in the deck and measure it against a life deck with Doctor Sloan as summoner and surround Diemonshark with a handful of good cards to make the most of his ability as a main tank in an interesting battle. New week and new battle challenge in Splinterlands. Let's get started.

DIEMONSHARK

THE CARD

image.png

As you know if you've been following my blog for a while I have two decks developed. One is the earth deck with Obsidian and accumulating cards with magic attack. The other one is the water deck with Kelya Frendul maxed at silver level and several cards also at max level for this league. So it's Diemonshark at level 4 and gold edition that will be the star of this week's challenge At his starting level he is a card with two melee attack, four speed, six shield and seven health. At level 4 it increases attack and health by one point.

One feature of Diemonshark is that its speed does not vary from level 1 to 8. It starts and ends with 4 points which is already a more than interesting speed and increases if you have Kelya Frendul as a summoner. The same goes for his shield points, which don't increase from his initial six. What does increase is his attack from two to four points and his health from seven points to the final 10.

Diemonshark, being a rare card, has a high price tag compared to other cards reviewed in previous Share your Battle challenges. Today, Thursday 22 October, it is priced at $0.41 at level 1 and for rent it costs $0.32 dec/day.

THE BATTLE

Angelic Mandarin

The sailor sunk deep into the depths of the cold water. He closed his mouth tightly, trying to preserve any air he had left. But the violent shipwreck had knocked the wind out of him. Trails of blood from his wounds blossomed into the water around him.

His mind told him to swim. Swim up and to air. Swim up and live. But his body wouldn't cooperate. Just as he felt unconsciousness tugging at him, there was movement. The glimmer of bright colors through the dark of the water.

A single fish swam to him. It was beautiful; it glowed with an internal light. The fish looked directly into his eyes. He stared back, barely hanging on to consciousness.

And then suddenly a surge of energy went through him. His wounds closed, and his lungs were filled with air. The fish turned and swam off. And the sailor kicked up to the surface of the water.

River Nymph

image.png

The young mage slung spell after spell at the five eldritch creatures advancing toward him out of the forest. However, his magics had no effect. The beasts stalked toward him. He staggered backward until his sandals splashed into the shallows of the river flowing behind him. They had him surrounded. The things crouched, ready to leap and tear him to pieces.

Energy surged through the young mage. His fatigue vanished, and his eyes widened in surprise. He moved with an unnatural swiftness as he whirled his arms and cast his spells, and this time, they tore into the eldritch creatures, leaving bloody gashes.

Two of the creatures fell dead. A third charged him, and he blasted it full in the face. It collapsed. But the young mage was unbalanced, and the last two leaped at him. No time to react.

A burst of water magic exploded from somewhere behind him and slammed into the two creatures in succession. They let out a shriek, nightmarish skin smoking. Then they, too, fell and died.

The young mage whirled. Behind him, a slender woman with flawless blue-green skin, pointed ears, and luxurious dark-blue hair stood in the river. The water flowed around her slim waist, and her fingertips traced circles in the current. Her features were elegant and graceful. A magical fae, born of the river, he though in awe. She was the most beautiful creature he'd ever seen.

Hardy Stonefish

image.png

To the untrained eye a Hardy Stonefish is nearly invisible when at rest on the ocean floor. This solitary creature is at home in deep water or in shallow pools. Their thick rough scales make the stonefish indistinguishable from chunks of coral or a large boulder but when they attack, very few survive. They can grow up to six feet in length and are wide and strong. Hardy Stonefish attack by slamming their rock-like skulls into their opponent, dealing crushing damage. Anyone who tries to battle this dread aquatic beast will find themselves surprised by the toughness of their scales, making their armor difficult to penetrate.

Sarl Mudfoot had been hunting the Irontail and Stonefin, prized for their scales, for months, but when he came upon the silt trail of a Hardy Stonefish he couldn't believe his luck. He dropped another air cartridge into his rebreather, bated his trap with a piece of quartz the size of his fist and perched himself on a boulder nearby. It was all over in a flash. Later that day his gear could be seen floating near the water's edge, his boat abandoned.

Battle

Round 1:

I am playing against no other than the DIEMONSHARK , River Nymph, coming straight from Japan to show me how it's done. His Summoner of choice is a level 3 Angelic Mandarin. However, the issue I see straight off the bat is not the summoner he is using but the level 2 Stitch Leech with its Reflection Shield ability, right next to his River Nymph, in the last spot, with taunt and scavenger.

image.png

After 1 round, both line-ups have not suffered any losses yet. So it is still hard to tell who has an advantage at this point. I damage opposite side 0 cards.

Round 2:

At the start of Round 2 I have managed to take down Blinding Reflector and DIEMONSHARK but as we can see from the screen shot below taken a moment after the beginning of Round 2, my Stitch Leech is a goner as well. I damage opposite side 1 more card.

image.png

Round 3:

Round 3 and both teams have 3 Monsters left on the battlefield. However, the enemy's advantage is glaringly obvious. I damage opposite side 1 cards.

image.png

Round 4:

The Blinding Reflector is a fantastic tank for the River Nymph. I'll stick to renting it though. Definitely worth throwing it in any battle with a large mana pool. I cannot think of an occasion where you might go wrong with that.

image.png

Round 5:

In this round all the cards damage opposite.

Results:

I won the match. Get 24 point for win.

CONCLUSIONS

Diemonshark, despite being a rare card, is one of the most interesting tanks in the water deck and in the game I dare say. It has a weakness to opponent's magic attacks However, in battles where the opponent first melee or ranged attack its high shield and life allow the second line enough time to damage the opponent as we have seen in this battle where the opponent didn't use a single card with magic attack. Outstanding card this week.
