Hive Blockchain 8/13 What's New + Goals

The hive blockchain has been in a bit of a crazy state the last week. There's been a good bit of drama which is always expected when you have conflicting views, money is involved and yada yada. Long story short Hive has a DHF which is a pool of money in which people can put forth a project they want to do and others in hive can vote on to get funding for it.

To me this is actully a major downfall of hive and if were up to me the DHF would either be all burnt and removed which means developers would instead have to post blog post articles status updates etc to get funding via votes on their post or actully buck up and create something that provides real value and brings value in instead of keeps removing funds.

Many of these applications have been pulling hundreds of HBD per day on applications for years. When in reality they should be running ads or other means of development to make their application profitable to fuel their project and return value BACK to hive.

You see Hive has a very very bad habit of constantly draining funds and not replacing them. The DHF is not free money. Much of that is often sold off to fund the project which removes that value from the marketman of Hive.

If we look at the current funded projects PeakD Proposals we can see currently (not counting the HBD stabilizer) that there is on the daily 4,558 HBD being paid out to these projects. DON'T GET ME WRONG there are some very valuable projects in here which wouldn't be able to make their own funds and contribute to the overall health of the blockchain those I am in full support of.

Let's say just 50% of that gets sold off to pay for developers (which I'm sure it's much higher than this) That's 2,279 HBD per day that is exiting value of the Hive blockchain that has to be replaced. That value out of EVERYONES pocket and I don't think people understand that or really pay much attention to the proposal systems that are part of hive. If anything I feel like it should pretty much be a requirement to vote once a year in order to earn APR on your powered up hive.

However application wise I can understand 3 months, 6 months or a year of funding max to get the application off the ground. However after that point I feel either the funds to that application should be greatly reduced or removed and it would be up to the application to start paying its own bills. This isn't that crazy when you think about it. In the world of tech this is called a incubator otherwise known as a spring board to take a promising vision and fund it into reality.

Anyways that's my two cents on the topic and to make it super short what I would like to see or talked about would be...

  • Application funding themselves after a period of time and possibly return the funds once they are capable of doing so (Like a incubator in tech)
  • More awareness about proposals and possibly make it a thing where you won't earn APR on your hive unless you have casted a vote in the last year (Curation would still be intact)

Applications What's New

Splinterlands has been getting a ton of hype lately. In fact I still feel under prepared for it even though I've been mainly staking for it all year! That's the introduction of land finally after two years when I thought and I believe we all thought it was "coming soon". I have a feeling at the town hall tomorrow at 8pm EST that we will get the official announcement and land will be released soon after into version 1.5. This version is limited but is the start of it all. Land should then go fully into motion along with some big trading pairs within the next 4 months after that. The roadmap from what I could see has been updated a bit.

At the moment from the newest info I've been able to pull it's as follows
v0.1.0 (Phase 1) - Claiming & Surveying - Released in Q1 2023
v0.1.5 (Phase 1.5) - Initial Card/DEC Staking & Resource Production - Expected in Q3 2023
v0.2.0 (Phase 2) - Full Buildings & Resource Production - Expected in Q1 2024
v0.3.0 (Phase 3) - Item & Spell Crafting - Expected in Q3 2024
v1.0.0 (Final Phase) - Items & Spells In Battles - Expected in Q1 2025

That kind of shows us that the major haul for resources etc wont happen until next year so there's still time to pool and get ready for it.

GOALS

Alright with that out of the way let's jump into some goals of mine. This is a little something I enjoy doing to keep myself on track but to also show others what is possible with time, work, dedication and investment. None of this is financial advice so do your own research before investing.

$HIVE

Goal: 100,000 Current: 97,972 Needed Per Day: 14.48

While the week to week earnings were down a bit it was still enough to drastically bring down my daily needed per day. Now at just a little over 14 hive needed per day we are pretty much doubling that daily from curation and staking rewards. Throw author rewards on top and we will be nearly triple that or better making it that I should be hitting that goal very soon.

As you can see earnings fell a bit which can happen. Later this month I'll need to shift due to a week long vacation of which I most likely won't be able to curate so I expect another slow down early September before I get back and start to hammer things again. It's honestly the worst time vacation ever because of Splinterlands land and a number of other things happening early September in the crypto world. It is what it is though and will travel as prepared as possible.

$LEO

Goal: 150,000 Current Without Delegation: 106,583

I've backed off stacking this one for the time being. Mainly personally and I believe others are getting a little annoyed with the constant promises and delays on key featured. One of the biggest being ad revenue that was talked about I would say nearly two years ago now.

Instead time and effort keeps getting dumped into this that at least to me provide little to no value because hardly anyone is using the platform anymore. Money talks loud when it comes to the crypto and social media space. You'll get far more activity by having dollar value right now over features. If no one is there producing content that others want to engage with it's pretty much a dead platform and that's how threads started to feel over the last few weeks.

My hopes are the team start to deliver on some real promises instead of constantly building everything else. I want to say I still support the project for sure but I'm not very supportive at the moment because of these constant delays. There's only so many times you can say "soon" before you learn your lesson and stop caring.

You'll see this in the price action of the LEO token over the last two months. I predicted that we would get close to $0.10 LEO and if ad revenue had kicked in the next month we would see $0.20 - $0.25 I feel like I would have been pretty dang close on that mark. However with constant delays LEO is now pushing backwards to just $0.04 now nearly returning to it's $0.03 value from where it started back in May.

$SPS

SPS is still rolling well but it's mainly a DEC stack for me right now. The goal here is to stack enough DEC including liquidity pools to be able to fully fund my 142 plots of land and build profit from land and liquidity pools. What I don't want to happen is that I have to constantly sell off other assets and tokens in order to fuel land so if I can get it built now and passive enough then land should be a breeze and be a profitable and fun adventure where I'll get to play Splinterlands again. (Currently I don't play as I'm stuck in bronze and just constantly lose battles so I earn no rewards)

Overall things and goals are changing with the tides of the markets. I'm also now becoming more and more focused on Hive in general and might swap out or change the goal after I hit 100k hive. The ultimate goal would be 1 million Hive at current prices but I think 250k hive will be the next goal. That will have to come from investment mainly over anything else.

You state,

which means developers would instead have to post blog post articles status updates etc to get funding via votes on their post

I've said this very thing in the past, but was shut down by the whales pretty quickly. They said earning what you'd earn anyway just by posting isn't fair. They also that many devs don't want to write anything other than code.

My rebuttal to the first argument was, if they were actually bringing value in a timely fashion, they'd earn way more for their blogs than if they were simply blogging and not building. This is a fact and blocktrade's blogs prove it.

To the second? Tough shit!

Yep it makes sense and Splinterlands one of the largest driving factors for the popularity, growth and overall value of hive I believe does all of these things and maybe never asked for funding? I could be wrong on that they might have asked in the very early days on steemit.

Yep there have been chains imploding because of internaldrama strife. I hope HIVE is not one.

So close to 100k HP, that is awesome!

Apparently we only have less than 5000 daily blog posters here on Hive, which is miniscule. No wonder it's an echo chamber with no one using it much compared to years ago. It looks like a small handful of whales running the show and the funds with very little growth, so it could go south at this rate on LEO and Hive. SPS might also crash since no more new users join. And I'm usually bullish.

Blog posters yes but userbase I would say is much higher with Splinterlands. really Splinterlands is the only one that's actully driven some kind of adoption and I believe they still get shit from whales lol or at least used to. Not everyone wants to blog which is why I'd rather use DHF funds to bring in developers for applications and stop wasting so much time and money on legit pointless projects that constantly just exit funds.

Your account growth is a straight inclined line which means you are perfectly growing according to goals

I am of the opinion that anything that isn't result oriented and frequently reviewed cannot work. The DHF is not work. It has served as compensation for oldies on hive. And it seems we are not ready to have important debates about how best to allocate the very scarce resources hive has.

PROSPOSALs should be reviewed frequently. Those that aren't doing well should be discontinued. It is that simple. Everything should be based on performance, not politics.
