My Future With Splinterlands

I joined Splinterlands back in the Alpha days and invested a few thousand bucks. Back then was the times where I was just starting to build my future in investing and my job. In just those few short years I went full time in my own business, hired someone else to take care of it which leads me now to spend minimal time on it and now investing assets back into Play2Earn games like Splinterlands and other projects in crypto. I'm now full time crypto with a back up of my business and I'm loving every moment of it!

At some point though hopefully this year I want to buy a plot of land, build a house and start my own homestead and become as self sufficient as possible. It's a new goal of mine and honestly it circles me back to the greats I had as a teenager fresh out of college where I had huge dreams and goals. I always said I would buy my own island lol. Buying a plot of land inland though just as good. It's crazy looking back at 20 years now and seeing my dreams then, the crazy and wild ride along the way to get me here. I made lots of sacrifices and worked MANY long days and weekends to get to that point.

Enough backstory though I just felt like sharing a bit of it before I jumped into my Future with Splinterlands!

The Town Hall

I've been able to run into a few of these town halls as of late and while I do hate long drawn out podcasts I do tend to stumble into one once in a while (for me I like quick time stamps and bullet points to get information quickly. Instead of sitting in a 3 hour (meeting) I can get the information I need within 10-20 minutes. Time is precious :)

Anyways in the last few hours I picked up a few nuggets of info I wanted to share with you all and show you why I'm still very bullish on Splinterlands.

At the moment crypto markets are struggling a good bit and with that the game has slowed down a good bit as well. When you focus on how that makes you feel to most people that would feel sad and depressing that nothings really happening. But just like Investments in projects like Splinterlands you also have to apply the lessons learned in general investing and that's to keep your own emotions out of it while still understanding how most people will react on their emotions.

We see it ALL the time. Right now not much is going on so prices continue to slump. Until a announcement comes out such as a new partnership, card, season changes, rewards, new packs and so forth. At the moment we are sitting mid way though one of the largest pack launches ever so it's understandable there's not much action. Fast forward to when there are only 3 million packs left and some high quality cards are released in the airdrop and we most likely will start seeing everything pump.

leoline.png

Fast forward into Q3 - Q4 and you have the release of Rift Watcher which is just like the launch of DICE packs. Now all of this information is TBA and not official it's just based on my own speculation and how it think things will play out as well as nuggets of info from the town hall.

Q3 - Q4 should see the release of Rift watchers which will be another new pack set released to the public. In past cases only DEC could be used to buy these packs. It's unclear yet as to how they will be sold this time but it could shift to SPS only. That does beg the question for me however where does DEC really get it's value anymore? It almost feels like DEC is being phased out and SPS is taking over for now but I want to say and hope that feeling is wrong and that something will come into play to give value to DEC once this SPS airdrop is over.

THE SPS from this will most likely go to the pool of which SPS holders will be able to vote and use those SPS funds in various ways including being given out as rewards.

As you all know my ultimate goal is to have 1,000,000 SPS by the end of this year. At the moment that would cost me roughly $110,000 and while I wish I had that laying around I don't lol It has to be earned and bought over time and I'm pretty happy with the progress so far.

New Seasons

New Seasons will be coming soon which are Modern & Wild - Rewards will be given on both most likely but the DEC depletion capture rate will apply equally over the two. This means you might be better off combining your deck and battling it out in one instead of both. Of course once that does go live there's going to be a lot of strats and talk about it which is one of the most powerful things about splinterlands. So many articles, videos and other content can be created by people on streams, youtube videos and so forth that it's never ending marketing for the Splinterlands team from it's players and that's awesome.

SPS

SPS again as stated about my goal is 1 Million SPS staked by years end. It's a big goal along with many of the others I have however I feel if I can hit this goal and others I'll be able to start accomplishing my other goals in life and that's something that empowers the crap out of it!

The Full details of the SPS whitepaper can be found here

https://sps.splinterlands.com/distribution

At the moment the totally capped supply of SPS is 3,000,000,000 that means only 3,000 people could possibly hold 1 Million SPS but that number will most likely be far lower. I'm sure there are some already there and a huge congrats to them!

At the moment what we have going out is the following

  • Airdrop - 400,000,000 13.33% supply
  • Foundation / DAO - 300,0000,000 10% supply (I think this one is currently running but I could be wrong.
  • Private Sale - 200,000,000 6.66% supply (drying up soon)
  • Team - 270,000,000 9% supply
  • Liquidity pools / Staking/ Orcale rewards (I believe this is only partial so far we have staking but liquidity pools seem to be rather limited however I could be wrong if anyone knows any of these for sure please drop it in the comments and I'll update this article)

What is coming

  • Play to earn 900,000,000 30% supply

That's a huge amount of the supply still to come and only parts or partial of the total for the current running have been completed. If we take a look at the total supply of SPS at the moment it is

Waka Card Returning!

It sounds like the Waka cards aren't doing well over on the Wax blockchain and honestly that's understandable. I commend the team for trying because you never know until you try something. Here on Hive those Waka cards sold out in under a minute. Those same $ values where put on WAX and I have to say from the looks of it only a few sold and the rest are just sitting on there. Because of that it seems like the team will be taking those off the wax marketplace soon and putting them back on Splinterlands. This means you might have a chance to pick them up for Vouchers and SPS again!

Personally I'll be holding on to a large portion of my vouchers unless they start selling for a higher value again. I believe there are a number of things coming down the pipeline that you're going to wish you had vouchers for. If anything if I do sell vouchers it will be when people are aping in for new cards and then using that to buy more SPS to push me faster towards my goal.

Lots going on in Splinterlands even though it might not seem like it. We still have land that should be coming out this year so it's pretty packed in terms of stuff releasing and all the promotions going on. I'm curious to see the updates to ranked battles as I know some people that put $200 into the game and can't even get out or bronze to actully get prizes and that's pretty demoralizing as a new player. I don't know what those fixes will be but I believe the team will get it figured out.

I believe Splinterlands will continue to be a leader in the Play2Earn space, help grow hive and I want to become a bigger part of that rolling forward. To break that down what it will look like is these next 3 months are going to be the power play months. That means cards, lands, SPS, vouchers are being stacked as quickly as possible. From that point I'll start working on building more of a community around it in gaming and help the game grow. I'll most likely as time starts to open up start streaming and promoting it that way as well on my own. This years going to be pretty awesome for Splinterlands, Play2Earn and Cryptocurrency.

Great read. I believe where Splinterlands is suffering most is new player retention and secondly the bots. There is no real viable pathway for new players to grow. The calculations estimate it would take a decade for someone to theoretically grind their way out of bronze unless 4 figures are spent. I don't know what the solution is to this, but I do know that in order to retain these new players and encourage them to spend a little money on Splinterlands as they grow, there needs to be a new pathway or in the least a way for them to grind in a viable manner. This is where the bots become the hurdle. Botting may contribute to the economy but no matter what anyone says, bots are detrimental to new player retention as botting has forced the hand of Splinterlands to first reduce captcha rate and then lower reward pools and daily rewards and actually make it nearly impossible for new players to grind out any rewards without botting themselves. The rental system is saturated with cheap cards which exaggerates the rental bot accounts but this is only temporary and there are ways to reduce this. And if your someone with as little at 250k power you have the resources to pump out even more bot accounts in quick succession off the back of your earnings. It's a capitalist conundrum that leaves top heavy scenario. I wish I had the answers to fixing this without hurting the whales or those who bot but I can only see it with an interactive Splinterlands map scenario.

Here's hoping the land plots create this viable scenario. I'd love to see an interactive Splinterlands Map where players can use assets to farm or battle and even level up their assets (which I think they are planning). Think along the lines of pokemon map style interaction but Yu-Gi-Oh dual where the cards morph into the actual monsters. A place where botting accounts can farm (with some reward restrictions like an intermittent captcha request) but the human accounts can be rewarded much more for actual game interaction within the map on a much higher scale. A gambling/dual tavern where players can make wages against each other or mini competitions and spend/burn DEC/SPS for temporary stat boosts. Or take a crew out on expedition into the Splinterlands wilderness to battle mega bosses for a chance at massive rewards but must pay some sort of fee to battle these bosses. One other such idea was to create and open level scenario (above champion league) where whales could enter and combine cards above lvl 10 and duke it out in a 'Legendary/God League'. This would help reduce card populations and stimulating further economy among the whale who for the most part are hoarding loads of cards unused. Another idea would be to allow people to burn their cards to apply temporary stat boosts to others. these I believe are the type of ideas that would encourage a reduction in bot play but also allow newbies a decent share of loot and give whales their continued opportunity to grow.
