Splinterlands recent hack/scam?

You may have missed it thankfully, but last night the splinterlands discord got hacked.

It appeared to have been a compromised account or role.

It started off with an @ everyone ping with an announcement for a special NFT and DEC airdrop.

The fake hacked scam announcement:

DO NOT GO TO THAT SITE, DO NOT CONNECT YOUR METAMASK
if you have already connect please make sure you have disconnected metamask from that site!

As you can see the scammers were asking ETH in return for a splinterlands playable NFT card, 10k DEC and possible 100k DEC airdrop (ALL FAKE)

I do have to admire the way the mods handled this so quickly, it was literally withing minutes of it happening, the mods deleted the announcements and general channels and had to manually add them back in.

But as fast as the mods were the scammers were still able to acquire 1 ETH in a matter of minutes.

In those few minutes 8 "mints" happened

2 of the mints were from the same address, someone double dipping and experiencing FOMO

and others minted more than 1

@ 0.088 ETH each and 13 "mints" total, the scammers walked away with 1 ETH

There were several red flags when I witnessed this happen in real time.

1. website was a .cc kinda weird.
2. they said their site only and others are scams.
3. they only accepted ETH and not DEC, SPS, SPT or anything else they would normally accept
4. the site was pretty trash

I do hope this could be used as a learning experience for some.
