In its latest effort in a $1.5M marketing blitz, Floki Inu and its helmeted Shiba dog head will appear on the shirts of two European soccer teams.

Floki Inu has partnered with soccer teams SSC Napoli and Cádiz, from Italy and Spain. The deal will see the Floki Inu logo, an illustration of a Shiba Inu dog wearing a Viking helmet, appear on the back of SSC Napoli’s first team shirt and on electronic advertising boards throughout Napoli’s Series A games.

Floki Inu’s marketing team indicated that its goal in partnering with SSC Napoli is part of its drive to become ‘the most famous and utilized cryptocurrency in the world.’ The Spanish club Cádiz will have the Floki Inu logo on its shirt sleeves. Floki Inu has also partnered with the Kerala Blasters, an Indian soccer team, as a sleeve sponsor for the Hero Indian Super League.

Aggressive Floki marketing blitz, with the Squid Game saga still fresh

The Floki Inu team has set aside $1.5M to be used in vigorous marketing campaigns, to convince big exchanges to list the token and to attract A-list influencers. It also announced an endorsement partnership with boxing star Tyson Fury. According to Floki.com, it’s in the process of developing a play-to-earn NFT gaming metaverse called Valhalla, which is intended to help unemployed people, much like Axie Infinity has done in places like the Philippines. The game will feature the voice of Fury.

There is also a Floki-based marketplace in the pipeline called FlokiPlace, which will be a place to trade NFTs and physical items.

It’s easy to get bullish about meme coins — just look at the Squid Game token saga. Before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s remember that Floki Inu is currently available only on decentralized exchanges Uniswap and PancakeSwap.

Even Robinhood declined to list the popular Shiba Inu token, and there are no signs that it will relent for Floki Inu. Floki Inu recently got embroiled in a mild controversy with U.K. advertising authorities and Transport For London (TFL). The advertising watchdog, the Advertising Standards Authority, questioned the legitimacy of the TFL’s approval of adverts on its underground transport network and buses.

Sports partnerships for cash-flush crypto companies

The sports world is awash in crypto-focused partnerships, as recently reported by BeInCrypto, although these partnerships have not always sat well with fans. Many football teams have partnered with Socios to offer fan tokens or NFTs of memorable moments in the club’s history.

FTX has been a prominent player in the Formula 1 space, partnering with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas team to have its logo prominently displayed on the driver’s apparel and on the vehicle.
