Supply Chain Issue? Summoners on the Rise!

Supply Chain Issue Summoners on the Rise!.png

Since the recent ranked reward post/starter card usage changes, summoners have been up across the board. We will look at the price increase as well as the amount of summoners available right now compared to active users to see if this will continue as we get closer to May 31st. Here are three examples of the current moves.

General Sloan

Sloan was down to around $1.80 just a week ago and is now hovering around $2.50. That is a jump of 39% in one week! Sloan is seen as the weakest chaos legion summoner and has been consistently the lowest since release. I would disagree with that sentiment but shows people are picking her up in plans for the starter card changes.

Kelya

Kelya has subsequently been the highest price chaos summoner throughout the past few months and has seen a similar jump in price but I wonder how much. Kelya was around $3.35 one week ago and now sees prices of approximately $4.20. This calculates to a 25% gain over the past week. One might say players are going more for bargain than quality of summoner possibly representing bot owners buying up supply to run in bronze and silver.

Quix

Lastlly, we will examine Quix which is the only chaos legendary summoner out right now. His price was approximately $24 one week ago and now sits around $28 currently. This represents a 17% increase. Again, appears players are going more for a budget play than quality of summoner with the recent announced changes.

Now that we have seen what has happened in the past, let us hypothesize what we can see in the future with summoner cards. This will be a short term look over the next month as the new changes come online. We will look at supply as well as daily active users.

General Sloan: 481 cards available

Kelya: 249 cards available

Quix: 37 cards available

Those numbers above are looking at total cards available, not necessarily one BCX copies. One can assume that number is even lower. With around 400,000 players currently playing every day, those numbers just do not add up. As the new changes happen, I think we can assume one of three things will happen. Players and bot owners will be forced to purchase these summoners to gain the full reward shares, play and forfeit a portion of those reward shares, stop playing all together. The first option is obviously what I think we have already seen a good amount of and the second option is probably best for people on a budget as you can get several level one cards for the same amount of one summoner. The third option I can see done by bot owners however with how lucrative the rewards are in bronze and silver now, I think one could calculate a fairly short ROI for continually running the bots and buying up a few splinters to run on that bot.

All in all, this is obviously bullish on card value over the short and long term in my opinion. We may also see a desire for pack opening/buying as well if prices get so high that average chaos pack value goes above four dollars. Really exciting times to be in this game right now.
