Hello! It’s been a while since I last played Splinterlands. I took a short break from the game due to personal reasons. However, coming back after some time away really made me realize how much the game has grown and evolved. Returning now feels almost like discovering Splinterlands all over again, with many new layers added on top. There are more cards and more systems, such as land and new cards, abilities and bloodlines.

One thing that really stood out to me after returning is the diversity of abilities and cards. With so many new abilities and rulesets, battles feel less predictable and much more engaging. That brings me to one of the most exciting updates: Escalation.

image.png

Escalation is a CA mini set, however, unlike past minisets, it introduces various gimmicks that will change the meta of the game.

image.png

In total, there are 8 new abilities. I personally like Bulwark, which gives -2 power, +8 health and armor to the unit when it is in first position, and Determined, which allows the unit to attack again after it misses its first attack. These abilities, in my opinion, has a high chance to shape the meta of Splinterlands gameplay, like sets such as Untamed, CL and Rebellion.

There are in total 5 foil types, and I hope to get some of the Gold Foils, and also get Black Foils and Arcane varients, although it is hard to get. Arcane varients and Black Foils come in max level, so you do not have to worry about levelling it up. Especially, if you have max level archons (summoners), it would be really great.

As there are also conflicts happening, I am really looking towards to participate in this miniset. Currently, I am getting SPS and DEC to buy these new packs. 1 Pack costs 350 SPS, or 5K DEC. Every 10 pack purchased guarantee a Rare Promo, and 100 pack guarantee a Legendary Promo, while 20 pack gives a free mage wagon. I do not have the fund to get 10~ packs, so I am instead hoping to get the packs on secondary markets, which may be cheaper.

Cards

Here are the cards that I chose to write in this post from Escalation. I found this in the Splinterlands Card tab, and there were many cards that looked really strong and interesting. Especially, the high cost mana common cards (10~ mana) and the 0 mana leg cards seemed really strong for me. I am also looking forwards to the summoners of this set, which will be airdropped by Conflicts. I am hoping that as I am not going to have a guaranteed chance of getting one, I would be lucky enough to snag a summoner from the Conflict, as I currently have some wagons, but I do not have enough cards for it.

Earth

Out of the high cost mana cards, Forlorn Geomant from the Earth seemed really powerful, as it has 5 magic attack, even at level 1! Although it has low speed and health at the low level, at max levels, it gains plenty of health. This card would be good for budget high-cost cards, as most high-cost cards before tends to be rarer. The 0 mana cost card also is powerful, with the new "Bloodline Pact" ability and Sneak, which allows it to gain mroe power and attack from the back position.

Water

The Blue Wyrm Travesty has astonishing 9 melee power at max level, which makes it suitable for main damage dealer. It also has other support abilities like Slow, so it would be better in the back. Combined with other abilities that allow it to attack from the back, this card will be great.

Darkguard Ironwing is interesting because it has "Apex Strike", which makes it target the most powerful enemy unit, and Halving at once. This makes that card a good nerfer. It also has Repair and Armor Strike at high level, which is like the previous Water Rnaged CL Reward card.

Maud Stonefoot is a 0 mana 2 magic attack dealer, and I think that the magic attack will be really powerful to have in low-cost battles.

Death

Magnificent Mollusk costs 13 mana and has 7 Ranged attack. It also reduces enemy melee attacks, and targets the strongest enemy unit. Although the other high-cost units seem to be better than this, I also think that this card would be good, as it targets the strongest damage dealer of the enemy.

Skritka has Kindered Will: Life leech, Charge and Bulwark. Giving life leech is always useful, and Charge allows it to attack using 2 types in back position. During the battle, when it goes to the first position, Bulwark makes it so that it would survive longer. In general, this card is a really good utility card that overall fits in various lineups.

Light

Godsnot Sorceress also has 13 mana cost and 7 ranged attack. However, I think this is better than the Death 13 mana attacker, although it has less HP. This is because it gains Headwinds at level 10, which reduces enemy Ranged attack by 1. This would be especially good in Ranged only rulesets.

Vitassent also seems to be a really strong attacker. It has 3 magic, 3 melee attack and charge, allowing it to attack twice in any position. It also has Armored strike as well in level 4, meaning it could attack 3 times at max. The kindered will is Rebirth, which is one of the strongest abilities in the game.

Fire

The fire 13 mana card, Ballista Deadshot, is great because like the Earth card, it has 5 magi attacks. It also has Scattershot, which might be bad due to randomness, but it also means that if you are lucky, you can take out their backline units quickly, especially in low levels. Even in high level, the Dispel can be strong sometimes. The downside is that it has lesser HP compared for a 13 mana card, but it is the only downside.

Tazagantha is a 3 mana 2 ranged (close range) unit. It would be especially strong in low mana battles, as the kindered will is blast, and it also has bloodlust, which is a great ability to have.

Dragon & Neutrals

Obsidian Dreadcore has 6 melee attack for 5 mana, and it has charge so it can attack from anywhere. It is also determined, meaning that it can attack again if it misses. It also has Demoralize and Enfeeble, which are 2 abilities that reduce melee attacks of enemy units. It would be especially useful in the back rank, when it is an melee only battle.

Doomshield Guardian is a 14 mana! card with 7 melee attack. It ahso has Flank and Relentless Strike, as well as Void Armor and True Strike. This would make it a good tank with Void Armor and Flank. The 7 melee attack also would be especially good, and combined with True Strike and Relentless Strike, the enemy will 100% gain that 7 damage.

Shiraza is a 3 magic attacker for 7 mana. It is a Weapons Trainer, which is always great. It also has Phase and Halving, and halving especially is also a great ability to have. It is awesome to have these 2 abilities in 1 card.
