Splinterlands Social Media Challenge!
Hello! This post is for the entry of Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. For this post, a really restricting ruleset which resulted in a similar lineup, and ends up the battle to be determined by different strategies is featured.
Battle Info
Rank: Modern Bronze
Avaliable Type: Water, Earth, Life, Dragon
Mana: 17
Melee Mayhem: Melee units can attack from any position.
Broken Arrows: Units with ranged attacks cannot be used.
The battle was really restricting. It wasn't because of the ruleset, since you can use melee units instead of ranged attackers. However, the mana cost was 17 which is not a lot.
My Lineup
Summoner: Kelya Frendul. A really good summoner from the Chaos Legion set. It gives +1 speed and +1 armor for just 4 mana.
First positon: Cruel Sethropod. It has a good amount of attack, armor and speed for just 3 mana. Although it could die because of magic attacks, the backline creatures should be able to give support.
Second position: Tide Biter. Another Melee unit with Reach, meaning it could attack from the second position. Although there is Melee Mayhem in the ruleset, I chose this card since it has 2 melee attack for just 3 mana.
Third position: Merdaali Guardian. A supporting unit with the Tank Heal ability. Although it cannot attack, it would be able to heal the front unit which is very big.
Fourth position: Scavo Hireling. Another supporting unit with Repair Ability, instead. It can heal a third of max armor. In a ruleset like this, it would be needed to heal the Cruel Sethropod's 4 armor.
Fifth position: Torrent Fiend. Although Torrent Fiend is basically useless in most of the games except taking a hit, in this game it is really important since it provides another 1 melee attack for free.
Last position: Hardy Stonefish. Same as Torrent Fiend. It gives me another attack basically for 1 mana.
Round 1
The opponent was revealed and I saw they have chosen similar cards. However, I noticed the opponent's mistake here: they chose a monster with Reflection shield instead of Repair. It can make a big change, but let's see.
Round 3
After some rounds, enemy Cruel Sethropod was taken down, but mine was also at low health.
Round 5
Both teams are attacking the front units, and they are at low health.
Round 6
One unit from each team was taken down.
Round 7
We're now in a stalemate and no one is able to continue dealing damage until fatigue due to heals.
Round 21
Good sign here. The enemy healer is down.
Round 22
Finally, after the fatigue, my Merdaali Guardian is the one survives and win!
Thoughts about this battle
I wasn't expecting this battle to go into fatigue, and it was exciting to see the battle unfold.
Thanks!
