Splinterlands 101 - Ep 21: Behind The Avatar @misterrogers
Yo Yo My Sovereigns, Wattup?
Welcome to episode 21 of my weekly Splinterlands 101 podcast, with fellow @hiveaustralia members, and co-hosts of the show, @mattclarke and @giotrix
This episode, is another "Behind The Avatar" themed chat.
Who is that person playing that toon that always flogs you in ranked battles? haha
Well this theme focuses on just that, meeting the person behind the avatar.
In this episode we asked @misterrogers (featured in episode 19) to come join us again, as we had such a blast on his previous episode, and if you watched that one, then you'll know exactly what I mean 😎
misterrogers, who went from 0 - Championship 2 in only 3 months has some unique insights, not only in battle strategy, but also in the whole splinterlands package, as a whole. A true inspiration to any new players out there, you won't want to miss this episode.
and for the battle enthusiasts out there, there are more battles in this episode than you can poke a stick at, as we all battle each other, and of course do our pre rumble, and post rumble breakdowns and analysis.
and remember, if you'd like us to analyse and discuss one of your battles, just drop a link in the comment section below.
...
I hope you enjoy this episode, as much as we enjoyed making it.
...
and don't forget, each week 1 viewer will have the opportunity to win 10% of the posts rewards. Details on how, included in this video.
So what are you waiting for? Just press play 😉
...
Please Enjoy.
Peace.

Great episode. Spot on about MisterRogers insights. Wish these were on YouTube. I'm out working on the farm and 3speak streaming quality just isn't as good. Thanks for putting these together. Sharing this on https://twitter.com/PraetoriaDigest.
Hi, thanks for dropping by, and for the kind words. I have recently started a YouTube channel, and have begun uploading old episodes. I will endeavour to get more episodes up soon. Thanks for sharing on your socials 😁
I should’ve paused to take notes because now I can't remember everything I wanted to comment on. I just can’t stop reeling from @giotrix relying on a 1 speed monster to deal damage in a non-reverse speed match.
I know there’s room for luck but I find slow monsters best suited to take damage and buff up cards that can actually hit.
Knowing you’ve sat in on a sermon or two, I’m presuming the rules crippled your deck such that you had to choose between Grum and just straight surrender so I admire your courage, and pity your luck.
I’m sorry I don’t have a 40 on hand to pour out for you. I hope my bleeding heart is sufficient.
I hear you. It's insanity. Sometimes, rarely, it works out. Your bleeding heart is enough, makes it all the more better when i actually win. LOL
Yeh, but you must admit, my bro @giotrix has balls of steel just to go up against people like @misterrogers and @mattclarke 🍒
!LOL I never doubted the size or material. It’s how he so brazenly presents them to be kicked I find baffling. 😁

Is that the paedophile version of a sheep fucker? 🐑
Probably in some cultures :) . I actually don't know how that phrasing came to be.
I've never heard it before
Oh. Lol. It means on the run/in hiding from the authorities.
In The Random House Historical Dictionary of American Slang, J.E. Lighter defines the term as prison lingo for ''an act of running or flight, esp. a dash to escape from custody.'' In his 1886 ''30 Years a Detective,'' Allan Pinkerton, the first ''private eye,'' explains an operation of pickpockets: ''After he secures the wallet, he will utter the word 'lam!' This means to let the man go and to get out of the way as soon as possible.'' Lighter cites do a lam, make a lam and take a lam early in this century, finally emerging as the passive state of being on the lam.
And the OED's information on its Scandinavian origin is echoed here:
Lighter speculates that it may be rooted in the dialect Scandinavian verb lam, as in the 1525 ''his wife sore lamming him,'' meaning ''to beat, pound or strike.'' Mark Twain used it twice: ''lamming the lady'' in 1855 and ''lam like all creation'' in 1865, both clearly meaning ''to beat.'' The suggested connection is that to avoid a feared lamming (related to slamming), one lams.
So this theory speculates that there's the verb lam first, attested by Mark Twain's use of the word in his books. Then possibly a new meaning evolved out of the verb: in order to not get lammed, one goes on the lam.
Other theories also exist:

Lol yeah. I didn’t know any of h to at either I especially wouldn’t have thought it goes that far back.
Dear @bobaphet, we need your help!
The Hivebuzz proposal already got an important support from the community. However, it lost its funding few days ago and only needs a few more HP to get funded again.
May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work this year?
You can do it on Peakd, ecency, Hive.blog or using HiveSigner.

Your support would be really helpful and you could make the difference! Thank you!
