Battle Mage Secrets Challenge - Silenced Summoners

Hey Splinterheads, I hope you are all having a great Splinterday!
The Battle Mage Secrets Challenge is a wonderful and effective way to get to know rulesets better and improve your gameplay. Not only do you study and analyse rulesets and example battles closely, you also get to read and see what other Splinterheads are thinking and doing with their little darlings on the battlefield.
With many battles now being comprised of 3 rulesets, it is important to know your rulesets well, how they relate to other rulesets and what corresponding cards work well to either exploit the ruleset or defend against it. We have also seen a number of new rulesets coming into the game lately and a bunch of new monsters have received new abilities.
The game is becoming more and more technical, leaving you with ever decreasing chances of winning battles with sheer brute force and overkill strategies. All these reasons and the clear challenge that players (and bots unfortunately) are getting „smarter“ all the time underscore the need to know rulesets very well. The Battle Mage Secrets Challenge helps and motivates us players further to do just that.
In today's challenge we are looking at the Silenced Summoners ruleset.

RULESET: Silenced Summoners
Description:
Summoners do not give any buffs/debuffs or grant/use abilities.

the Silenced Summoners ruleset means, that summoners are not able to pass on any abilities or buffs to your little darlings or debuff the enemy team. So your monsters are left to their own devices… and abilities. The best way to work with this ruleset is, firstly, to choose monsters that will debuff the enemy in some way. You can use attack debuffs or Slow, etc. Secondly, try to use monsters that will buff your team’s offensive capabilities or speed it up. Finally, go for monsters with effective abilities to increase your chances of victory. There are plenty of abilities to choose from, so think carefully with this ruleset to put together the most effective lineup possible. I personally go for buff and speed whenever I can.

The battle stats are the following:
RULESETS: Target Practice, Silenced Summoners
MANA: 22
AVAILABLE SPLINTERS: red/white/green/gold

Here we have a medium mana battle with the added ruleset, Target Practice. This is a significant second circumstance and an interesting situation generally, because your range and magic monsters can attack the lowest health enemy monster from any position and the added factor, that most monsters in a low mana match will have relatively low health points. I have decided to go for a Dragon/Life combination, as I consider low mana Life monsters to be among the most powerful monsters around for low mana battles.
Here is the team I put together:

Although QUIX THE DEVIOUS cannot so deviously debuff the enemy team here, I still prefer to go with him to increase my range of cards to choose from and there are several low mana dragon cards with great abilities.

VULGUINE does not feature in my battle very often, but here I want to make use of the abilities Scavenge and Dodge. This will make him slightly harder to hit with a 15% miss chance from melee and range. Scavenge will also increase his health, whenever a monster dies.

This guy is lethal in low mana games and I often place him in first position. Here PELACOR CONJURER occupies position 2 to act a a solid wall to protect the midfield and backline. His 5 speed and Flying will make him hard to hit and Magic Reflect will hit back at enemy magic attacks.

CELESTIAL HARPY is also a strategic pick. While range and magic monsters will seek their opportunities, so will this little melee monster. True Strike guarantees a hit every time and 3 speed with Flying will also make her slightly more difficult to hit.

Following on with the max abilities strategy, TIME MAGE brings Slow and Rust to the table, slowing the enemy down and taking 2 shield away. 2 magic and 5 speed are unbeatable, too.

To complete the maximum speed advantage, SUPPLY RUNNER brings Swiftness and will attack with 3 range at 5 speed. This card is one of my most used neutral cards.

NAGA ASSASSIN is a great anti-sneak monster with 6 speed and Backfire. She is also sure to get some hits with fast 2 range attacks.

So now let's take a closer look at the battle in focus today. My opponent brought out a team for maximum speed manipulation - boosting his team, debuffing my speed and bringing a tank with Dodge. We had similar strategies in mind, so this would be a close call!

To begin with, my team seems to have won the speed race with first strike capabilities for 3 of my monsters. NAGA ASSASSIN and TIME MAGE struck with a flash to dispose of the Fungus Flinger. I prefer getting Martyr monsters first up to know what would then come, rather than later to give the enemy team sudden boosts to fight against. SUPPLY RUNNER took half the health of the Failed Summoner and VULGUINE collected a miss. This is a good start to and even battle. CELESTIAL HARPY that made a significant kill by getting rid of Brownie to reduce the enemy team's speed by 1. In the meantime, VULGUINE collected 2 extra health during the first round and the monster ratio was 6:4 - very nice going!

NAGA ASSASSIN went first again to take a swipe at the enemy tank, followed by a killer blow by TIME MAGE to finish off the Failed Summoner. SUPPLY RUNNER then made the next strategic kill to get rid of Creeping Ooze to further reduce the enemy's overall speed. VULGUINE got another 2 health to grow to 8 health points and the front end. Then came a great double play: CELESTIAL HARPY attacked Uraeus who then missed NAGA ASSASSIN, sending back 2 damage to leave behind a lonesome Pelacor Mercenary to fend for himself. He is a powerful card with strong abilities, but fighting alone against a full team didn't give him good odds regardless.

This round almost ended the battle with my little darlings grinding down the Pelacor Mercenary to two health only to Heal and live on to fight another round.

Pelacor Mercenary displayed his survival skills again, collecting 2 misses, healing and fighting on...

After collecting yet 2 more misses, Pelacor Mercenary was finally wasted to bring my team victory.

I love victories with no casualties!!

We all paid homage at his funeral!

This battle was a display of speed and abilities, the best way to work with the Silenced Summoners ruleset. My opponent had the same idea but didn't choose his team carefully enough, by focussing too much on his tank. Other than bringing a Martyr, the enemy team only had one other attacker, which didn't suffice to bring down my team.

What is the current social media challenge in Splinterlands? And where do I see them? I'm going to try to start using my secondary account to post about Splinterlands. How does your guild do by the way? THGaming 1 just has too few active members. It's an account I've only been playing at bronze in brawls mostly because I don't want to have to rent too many extra cards.

I saw the post, great start! did you post a link in the challenge post and tagged Splinterlands & play2earn?
I did but I think it was past the deadline. I had figure out how to upload to youtube again, so it was more of a practice run. I'll try to make it more interesting this next time around!
why youtube and not a tweet?
I don't have an X account for the Javeson account
