Legendary Dragon Babies Brawl Report #167

We are part of a larger German SPL gaming community, the Legendary Dragons, with 14 guilds brawling in various tiers. Our leading guilds, the Legendary Dragons and the Legendary Wyverns play in tier 4 and rank in the top 20. The Legendary Dragon Babies are currently playing in tier 2 and are ranked #172. Here is our Brawl Report #167!
It was a great brawl for our team this round. We finished first by a big margin of 24 points from second place. The big fish in the pond we were concerned about, Albion #69, had a disastrous brawl, finishing last. I wonder what is going on there... Peak Monsters Feeder 7 was supposed to be a formidable foe statistically, but finished second last. That shows, that we shouldn't give too much weight to statistics. Often it comes down to the form and circumstances of the day... and it was a Dragon Babies day :)
We had great battle stats: 50 wins from 84 battles, giving us a 59% winrate, which isn't wonderful on paper but plenty to walk off the field as supreme winners in this brawl. Mitriiman Squad #536, the underdog in this brawl, came from behind to surprise us all with a solid second place and Inglorious Basterds #366, a regular performer in the arena, came third.
We did well to fill all frays and all but one player made the home straight, but our stats we good enough to come out on top regardless.
Congratulations to all our brawlers for the good results. Our newbie, dat-schmeckt, came home with the best stats and our leader, golddiggernrw, got the most points. Since our fixed fray allocation policy has been in place, the overall team performance has improved and the discord communication has become smooth and effective indeed. We are looking to return to tier 3 soon to stir up the big wigs and steal their glory ;)
My brawl stats were consistent and I had just the one loss. An individual 75% winrate or higher is what all brawlers should aim for. The brawl rewards were good: almost 3k merits and 22 SPS.
I had enough merits for two gladiator packs:
Nothing spectacular here today. I am always hoping for GFs to use on my fray but there was nothing shiny here this time. Nevertheless, keeping the RFs coming in regularly is good for the collection and one day I will be able to play gladiators effectively on frays with higher league caps.
In the BATTLE-OF-THE-DAY segment, we have a 43 mana Life Battle with the rulesets Thorns, Taking Sides and Holy Protection. The available splinters are red, blue, green and gold.
It was not so easy to prepare for this battle, as my gold foil collection is still a little limited, especially when it comes to heavy hitters. On the other had, the number of GF soulbound cards is growing nicely and I decided to send a couple of them into the field today.

It looked quite even at first glance. I didn't field a gladiator but my overall speed stats were better, so it was going to be a good fight.
Round 1 was about hammering the enemy Taunt and preserving my frontliner, TUSK THE WIDE, for as long as possible, which worked quite well.
The Taunt went first and TUSK had to go. The Psychic was annoying, healing Grund, but Thorns got rid of him nicely.
Round 3 was uneventfull, or better said, went as expected, and the dominos were falling...
Round 4 was 4 againt 3 and the stats changed quickly, as the enemy was being wiped out.
There was not much more to report on here and first thing in round 6, the battle ended.
I love this card. FIRECALLER is not the typical Martyr as he has other attributes, that make him very useful in battle: plenty of range power. He didn't sacrifice himself, but hit his target every round and contributed to the rapid decimation of the enemy.
