Social Media Challenge - The Great Rebellion
Hi Splinterheads, there is a rebellion coming and the timing is right! There have been bad news lately, the card market is down in the dumps and the game badly needs new players. What better way to shake things up than to usher in the Great Rebellion? There is a shitload of new cards coming, several new abilities, new functionalities for summoners and more! We have all been waiting for the next core edition of Splinterlands cards for ages and the time is near! Lots of details about this great event have already been made public and the pre-sale starts today!
We don't have many specific card details about the new core edition yet, but we know that there are almost 100 of them and images of 2 promo cards have been released:
These look great and it is a sign of things to come. I appreciate that there is a new look but I am a bit irritated by the thin edge around the image. I guess I will get used to it...
We have very few details about the many new monsters waiting in the wings and I will be super excited to open my first packs on December 5.
Then there are some new abilities:
These new abilities seem to be niche abilities and will probably be a little difficult to integrate into our general gameplay at first. I don't want to speculate too much right now and prefer to wait and see how they work on the battlefield.
Armored Strike - gives melee monsters additional attack through their shield.
Corrosive Ward - gives melee monsters additional damage to shield which then cannot be repaired
Flank - monsters with this ability give a melee monster in the second position the Reach ability
Lookout - monsters with this ability give adjacent monsters additional protection from stealth attack
I am looking forward to experimenting with these new abilities!
Other new features are new summoner mechanics: Dual-element and a choice of 2 buff or debuff options:
These Summoner Tactics will apply AFTER both players have revealed their teams:
This feature is what I am most excited about! This is the first mechanics of its kind. After the team has been revealed the player can make one final adjustment to his team before the battle begins. This adjustment can further strengthen the team or weaken the opponent. How this plays out is very unclear to me at this stage and here again, I am really looking forward to experimenting! I guess it means preparing for both scenarios in one team. This sounds really cool to me!
There are tons of other details about the Rebellion that I have not covered. I am not big on numbers so there are no stats in this post. I have covered what jumped out at me when I first read THIS article to get us all hyped up. Please consult the article for full details. We will be getting more and more details about the cards themselves very soon. Yes, Splinterheads, sleepless nights and long days of anticipation are before us....
