Once upon a time... [EN-BR]
What's up guys! This week the Media Challenge asks us to tell a little of our story in the Splinterlands universe, so nothing more fair and timely than saying something about me too. Well, I'll give a brief personal introduction and then I'll talk about my adventure as a player.
My name is Raphael, I'm Brazilian, a game fan and an enthusiast in the crypto world. I enjoy physical activities to keep my body and mind productive, I enjoy barbecues, chatting with friends and I have a great companion who is my dog, an affectionate and very intelligent Rottweiler. I enjoy different types of musical styles, but a band that really influenced my adolescence and that I still listen to today is Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
Well, that was a brief introduction to my life outside of the game. I intend to make other posts with more information about myself, but for now, I'm just going to tell you these so I have something to say later 😅
I've always liked technology, so, when I discovered and started studying the crypto world, I was immediately absorbed by the revolutionary games it brought. My day to day tasks are a little boring sometimes, so I found some good hobbies in this GameFi universe.
I discovered some games through YouTube channels (most of them don't even exist anymore) until I stopped at Splinterlands. I was always wary of investing money in a game that I didn't know well about the company behind, but this game made me change my mind as it really pleased me and allowed me to combine the useful with the pleasant.
I joined the game in October 2021, at that time everything was on the rise, the market was heated and there was a lot of expectation surrounding the game. Compared to today, it was much more expensive to buy cards and have an effective deck to win, so I got used to renting cards instead of buying and I still do that today.
I believe I can consider myself a mini veteran because I've been playing for over 2 years, but I'm not one of the top players in the leagues that entered at the same time as me 😔
Nowadays I've already invested many hours in the game. My game profile shows that I have 14,829 games in the Wild format and 2,985 in the Modern format, this is really crazy for me, as I didn't even see all that time pass. As I play by renting cards, I try to optimize the game time with rentals, so I play on alternate days, waiting for the energy to regenerate before renting again.
During all this time playing, I had some very memorable moments. I remember when I got my first gold card. It was a Venari Crystalsmith, which at the time cost a whopping $25. As a good player (and at that time a novice investor), I didn't sell 😓 I could have used that money to buy more cards in the future, but I didn't.
After that time, I bought some cards to improve my deck, but nothing major. I also started to win some packs and open them, until after almost 2 years, I won my first Golden Legendary Card. It was something that I had already stopped believing because I didn't buy packs, I just got them from chests. The card was Lira The Dark, it cost $45 and this time I sold it because I wanted to invest that money in SPS.
But among all the achievements the game could offer me, the best one was when I joined a guild. This allowed me to make colleagues who are with me on this journey, helping me grow in the game, giving advice and sharing their experiences with me. Things that money can't buy. I believe that without this team, the game would be less interactive and fun, making my adventure have fewer highlights.
My current goals in the game are, firstly, to accumulate SPS. I believe it is a very useful resource for the Splinterlands universe, increasing rewards and voting power. The best thing about the token is that it is not only valuable for the card game, but also for upcoming updates and expansions, such as Soulkeep and the Lands. After that, I want to be able to learn strategies that allow me to stay in a league with good rewards and also get some Soulkeep packs, as it is a style of game that I have always liked and have created a lot of expectations.

I know I'm not a Pro Player, but I've had a lot of experience throughout this journey in the game, so I believe I can leave some advice for newcomers who are thinking about joining or who have already joined and are having difficulties with the game. Here are some:
- The first of them is to never forget that the main objective of any game is fun. So don't just create financial expectations, but enjoy the game and everything it brings to your community.
- Socialize a lot. The game will become much more fun and you will feel much more welcomed if you are accompanied by people with the same goal of improving. Good starting points for socialization are guilds, Ecency and discord.
- Always be aware of news. One way to improve and gain advantages is to always be aware of the changes and the direction of the game, so always study.

E ai, galera! Essa semana o Media Challenge pede para contarmos um pouco da nossa história no universo do Splinterlands, sendo assim, nada mais justo e oportuno do que falar algo sobre mim também. Bem, darei uma breve introdução pessoal e então falarei da minha aventura como player.
Me chamo Raphael, sou brasileiro, fã de jogos e entusiasta no mundo cripto. Curto atividades físicas para manter meu corpo e minha mente produtivos, curto churrasco, conversar com amigos e tenho um grande companheiro que é meu cachorro, um rottweiler carinhoso e muito inteligente. Sempre gostei de tecnologia, então, ao conhecer e começar a estudar o mundo cripto, fui logo absorvido pelos jogos revolucionários que ele trazia. Minhas tarefas do dia a dia são um pouco entediantes as vezes, então encontrei alguns bons passatempos nesse universo de GameFi.
Fui descobrindo alguns jogos através de canais no youtube (a maioria deles nem existem mais) até que parei no Splinterlands. Sempre fiquei desconfiado de investir dinheiro em um jogo que eu não conhecesse bem a empresa por trás, mas esse jogo me fez mudar de opinião ao me agradar bastante e me possibilitar unir o útil ao agradável.
Entrei no jogo em outubro de 2021, naquela época tudo estava em alta, o mercado estava aquecido e havia muita expectativa em cima do jogo. Comparado a hoje, era muito mais caro pra comprar cartas e ter um baralho efetivo pra ganhar, então me acostumei a alugar cartas ao invés de comprar e faço isso até hoje.
Acredito que posso me considerar um mini veterano pois já jogo há mais de 2 anos, mas não faço parte dos top players das ligas que entraram na mesma época que eu 😔
Hoje em dia já investi muitas horas no jogo. Meu perfil no jogo mostra que tenho 14.829 partidas no formato Wild e 2.985 no formato Modern, isso é muito louco pra mim, pois nem vi esse tempo todo passar. Como jogo alugando cartas, tento otimizar o tempo de jogo com os aluguéis, sendo assim, jogo em dias intercalados, esperando a energia regenerar para alugar novamente.
Durante esse tempo todo de jogo, tive alguns momentos muito marcantes. Me lembro de quando ganhei minha primeira carta dourada. Foi um Venari Crystalsmith, que na época custava incríveis $25. Como um bom jogador (e naquele tempo um investidor novato), eu não vendi 😓 Poderia ter usado esse dinheiro para comprar mais cartas futuramente, porém não fiz isso.
Depois desse tempo, comprei algumas cartas para melhorar meu deck, mas nada demais. Também comecei a ganhar alguns packs e ir abrindo, até que depois de quase 2 anos, ganhei minha primeira Carta Dourada Lendária. Foi algo que eu já havia deixado de acreditar pois eu não comprava packs, apenas ganhava nos baús. A carta foi Lira The Dark, custava $45 e dessa vez eu vendi pois queria investir esse dinheiro em SPS.
Mas entre todas as conquistas que o jogo pôde me oferecer, a melhor delas foi quando entrei em uma guild. Isso me permitiu fazer colegas que estão comigo nessa caminhada, me ajudando a crescer no jogo, dando conselhos e compartilhando suas experiências comigo. Coisas que o dinheiro não pode comprar. Acredito que sem essa equipe, o jogo seria menos interativo e divertido, fazendo com que minha aventura tivesse menos pontos altos.
Meus objetivos atuais no jogo são, primeiramente, acumular SPS. Acredito ser um recurso muito útil para o universo Splinterlands, aumentando as recompensas e o poder de voto. O melhor do token é que ele não somente é valioso para o jogo de cartas, mas também para as atualizações e expansões que estão por vir, como Soulkeep e as Lands. Posterior a isso, quero conseguir aprender estratégias que me permitam ficar numa liga com boas recompensas e também pegar alguns packs de Soulkeep, pois é um estilo de jogo que eu sempre gostei e tenho criado muita expectativa.
Sei que não sou um Pro Player, mas já tive muitas experiências ao longo dessa jornada no game, então acredito que posso deixar alguns conselhos para os novatos que pensam em entrar ou que já entraram e estão com dificuldades no jogo. Aqui vão alguns:
- O primeiro deles é nunca esquecer que o objetivo principal de qualquer jogo é a diversão. Então não crie expectativas financeiras apenas, mas curta o jogo e tudo o que ele agrega para sua comunidade.
- Socialize bastante. O jogo vai se tornar muito mais divertido e você vai se sentir muito mais acolhido se estiver acompanhado de pessoas com o mesmo objetivo de melhorar. Bons pontos de partida para a socialização são as guilds, o Ecency e o discord.
- Sempre esteja atento às novidades. Uma forma de estar melhorando e conseguindo vantagens é você sempre estar sabendo das mudanças e do rumo que o jogo, então estude sempre.
