Share Your Battle Challenge: Dragon Squad

Hi!

This week's Splinterlands battle challenge is about dragons. Since I don't own any actual dragons at the moment I'm going to try my luck with other members of the Dragon splinter. Members of this so-called Dragon Squad are Drake Of Arnak, Djinn Chwala, and Dhampir Infiltrator. They are not alone because I have chosen a couple of sidekicks from the Fire splinter.

Let's get to it!

Summoners: Drake Of Arnak Vs. Wizard Of Eastwood

This match-up between the summoners is pretty plain and simple. My Drake Of Arnak would give all of my monsters +1 armor in an ideal world. However, my opponent wisely chose the Wizard Of Eastwood as a summoner meaning that I won't benefit from Drakes's buff. Instead, my Djinn Chwala will actually lose one armor point.

So other than that, it's gonna be a pretty even fight between the summoners, although the opponent summoner costs less than mine so they have one extra mana to use on monsters.

Setup For The Battle

What we have here is a Standard ruleset, 24 mana battle with all the Splinters in use.

At first look, it seemed to me that I was going to get beat in this one. After a quick analysis, this battle started to look much more even.

So, let's head up straight to the introductions of both teams!

My Team

I chose Djinn Chawala as a tank unit. It's built for the job having an impressive amount of health(9) and armor(5).

Even though Chawala has a moderate melee attack(2) and speed(2), it's her ability that makes her extra dangerous. Thorns will do damage back to attacking enemy melee unit.

Chwala will highlight thorns ability since she has good armor and therefore can take many melee hits and at the same time deliver damage back.

I put Tenyii Striker in the second spot mainly because of his health points(6). He could fight as a kind of secondary tank unit if Chwala should fall.

But if Chawala should hold its position, Tenyii Striker can do damage using his Sneak ability to attack the last monster on the opponent's team.

And of course, I just had to choose my favorite guy for the team! Just the other day I wrote a Unforgettable Untamed: Serpentine Spy article about this one. So check it out if you want to find out more.

Serpentine Spy is on the team to take out the weakest link of the enemy team using the Opportunity ability.

Last but not least I chose Dhampir Infiltrator. This monster has a bit of weak stats(attack 1, speed 2, health 2) on level 1 but what he lacks in that area, he'll compensate with a set of abilities.

Together with Tenyii Striker he will attack the last enemy monster using Sneak. On top of that, he has also a Double Strike ability, making him attack the target twice.

So combined with the Striker's attack, the opponent's last spot monster will have to deal with three attacks/round!

Opponent Team

Powerful tank monster, Mycelic Infantry, is my opponent's choice in the front line.

Compared to my Djinn Chwala, this one has a slightly better attack strength(3) but it loses to Chwala in armor(3) and health(7).

Still, having the Shield ability Mycelic Infantry becomes a tough nut to crack.

The next one up is the Failed Summoner. He was probably chosen for this spot because of his Magic Reflect ability.

This could cause me some trouble if I had any magic monsters. Well, I don't.

Goblin Thief is put there safe in the middle. From that spot, it will be targeting my last monster using his Sneak ability.

Pretty similar to my Tenyii Striker monster.

A decent 4-mana monster with adequate stats: 2 melee attack points, 2 speed, and 3 health.

Now this one is interesting. Spirit Druid Grog is a legendary Earth monster with a nice set of abilities.

His Resurrect ability will bring back one fallen monster with 1 health point. Note that the Spirit Druid cannot resurrect himself.

Another interesting ability this monster posses is Life Leech. This will increase Druid's health each time it makes damages my monsters.

Xenith Archer holds the last place on my opponent's team.

This monster has no abilities and also has pretty weak stats so I'd guess it was chosen to be used as a sacrifice to the Sneak monsters. Or just to use up the remaining mana.

The Battle

Here it is, click to watch the whole BATTLE!

ROUND 1

Our start was none other than amazing! Serpentine Spy took out the most dangerous monster of the enemy team, Spirit Druid Grog. Soon after that, Tenyii Striker put Xenith Archer out of his misery.

Dhampir Infiltrator used Double Strike against Goblin Thief but the sneaky one retaliated and the Infiltrator was out.

ROUND 2

The second round started with us paying back Goblin Thief.

Djinn Chwala did what she was paid to do, stand tall and create extra damage with the Thorns ability.

ROUND 3

At the beginning of this round, we quickly removed the Failed Summoner. After that, it was Chwala, Tenyii Striker, and the Serpentine Spy against the Mycelic Infantry.

Both Chwala and Mycelic Infantry were stripped of their armor while Chwala had 9 health and the Infantry 7 health points.

It goes without saying that this battle was done and the Dragon had prevailed.

Conclusion

As this was part of the Dragon Challenge I think I should go through the performance of the Dragon Squad. Dhampir Infiltrator is a monster I rarely use and unfortunately, we didn't get to see much of him in this battle either. I wasn't entirely convinced of him but I could see use cases for him once upgraded a little.

On the opposite, Djinn Chwala is one of my go-to monsters. She didn't let me down in this one either. Really great stats and it costs only $0.08 at the market! This is the one to upgrade in the future.

Drake Of Arnak as a summoner didn't quite work in this battle since he was debuffed to begin with. It could work very well against Fire Splinter and Tarsa for example. Not giving up hope on Drake.
