SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! DHAMPIR STALKER

Hello, Splinterfans!

Today it's all about the Dhampir Stalker, a ranged Death Splinter monster. To be honest, I haven't been playing with the Stalker that much, probably because Death is my least favorite splinter. Nevertheless, inspired by this challenge I just had to take him out on the battlefield. Here we go!

Preparing For Battle

While I was studying my opponent's troops they used in previous battles, I came to the conclusion that they would probably go with the Death as well as I but as a summoner, they'd choose Owster Rotwell. This summoner has a buff that gives all friendly monsters the Magic Reflect ability.

With this in mind, I was not going to choose any magic-using monsters but instead decided to go with these ones:

Cursed Windeku was my choice as a tank unit. Its Thorns ability will also damage the attacking melee monsters and besides that, it can take some hit itself because of the 9 health points.

Silent Sha-Vi was partly chosen for the second spot because it has also pretty decent health. It can also attack from that position using its Sneak ability.

!

My backline monsters would be Soul Strangler with 2 ranged attack points and Dhampir Stalker with an impressive 3 attack points.

The idea to position these monsters in that order was that Stalker could take more damage so Strangler being weaker, would be safer in the middle. I wanted both of these guys to last as long as they could.

Dhampir Stalker has a True Strike ability so he cannot miss his targets. This should come in handy if opponent has fast or flying creatures.

The Summoner

As a summoner, I chose Thaddius Brood for the following reasons. If my opponent would indeed choose Owster Rotwell, I would at least get the advantage if they should use monsters with magic attacks. That is of course because of Thaddius' -1 magic dubuff. Thaddius will also reduce one health point from the opponent's monsters. This might help the Stalker to take them out faster!

The Battle

So very often I have been completely off with my scouting and this battle didn't make an exception. My opponent entered the arena with Life splinter and Lorna Shine as a summoner. Well, this was unexpected.

Lorna has a buff that gives all their monsters a Divine Shield. That means that my first attacks won't reduce their health but instead consume the ability. Let's take a look at how it all went down! Here is a link to the battle!

  • Round 1:
The opponent had an evasive Pelacor Conjurer in front. My Soul Strangler missed his chance but the Stalker did not cos of the True Strike.

  • Round 2:
Again a miss! This time by Silent Sha-Vi. Cursed Windekus Thorns ability took down one enemy but Windeku had to step down too.

  • Round 3:
In this round, we took out Adelade Brighwing which was withered down by the Stalker.

  • Round 4: Their healer had to take the first spot and we managed to take it out leaving only Temporal Master. This monster was recharging his attack but it was obvious that he was done for and so was the battle.

Conclusion

I was really pleased with the Dhampir Stalker and this battle gave me a lot to think about. For example, I've been kinda neglecting the True Strike ability but now noticed how effective it can be against fast and flying monsters. And of course against those who have the Dodge ability!

I cannot say that I'm that pleased with my strategy because it was made against a whole different team. Still, everything went better than I expected and I was victorious.

When it comes to Dhampir Stalker, I think I'll definitely use him again in the arena. He has got great stats but that obviously comes with a price. Being a seven-mana point monster, Dhampir Stalker is definitely not for low-mana battles but could be an excellent choice for higher-mana showdowns!

Thank you for reading!
