Has there been market manipulation in favor of gold foil cards and to the detriment of regular foil cards for years?

Hey, Splinterland enthusiasts

As the discussion about reward distribution in tournaments is currently ongoing, I have conducted some calculations and come across some interesting findings that I want to share with you.
I have compared the max level tournaments as they naturally receive the largest share of rewards. I have also focused on the CL core cards as they provide the largest sample size.

Currently, in tournaments, 10 times more is paid out per head in goldfoil tournaments than in regularfoil tournaments.

I have calculated the difference in rarity if all existing cards were to be leveled up to max level. The numbers are not exact because we do not know how many have already been leveled and which ones have not, but it is good enough to show the ratio:

There are 2.8 times more Common Regular-Max cards than Common Goldfoil-Max cards.
There are 2.3 times more Rare Regular-Max cards than Rare Goldfoil-Max cards.
There are 2.8 times more Epic Regular-Max cards than Epic Goldfoil-Max cards.
There are 6.3 times more Legendary Regular-Max cards than Legendary Goldfoil-Max cards.

This means that gold cards are on average only 3.5 times rarer than regular foil cards.

So, what do you think? Are the current 10x per head for goldfoil tournaments justified?

It should also be noted that Goldfoil decks can participate in Regularfoil tournaments, but not vice versa.
And gold decks already receive up to 70% more rewards in the ranking due to the 10% bonus per gold card.

Sincerely, Bronko
