Here Be Dragons: Navigating a Difficult Splinterlands Environment

For me, this latest season of Splinterlands has not gone as planned. Matches seem to have gone up dramatically in difficulty and at a point where I would have already made the jump to silver in previous seasons, I'm currently bumping along at the bottom of Bronze II. And not to mention all of the craziness with the markets!

If anyone who is in a similar situation this season (or who enjoys reading about other people who are), here are a few important things to keep in mind in order to keep your sanity and account assets intact.

Don't Panic!

Making snap decisions is a sure way to damage your net worth. (and side note: bonus points to any Hitchhiker's Guide fans out there!) Don't instantly sell your collection at dumpster fire prices. Don't immediately quit the game in disgust. Don't throw a fit and burn the post-it note your wrote all of your private keys on (I know, I know). Notably, if you think it over and do end up deciding to make drastic resource or time allocation changes (including, but not limited to taking a break from the game) then that's perfectly fine - you should do what is best for yourself. Just make sure you take a minute or two and think it over first.

Preserve your capital

Don't over-rent CP and cards if they aren't resulting in income. Just the other day I went through everything I was renting and cancelled everything I didn't absolutely need. It did hurt a bit after using those cards so much in the higher leagues in earlier seasons, but preserving DEC and minimizing losses should be a high priority.

Bide your time, and keep an eye out for opportunities

Remember that everyone else is experiencing the same market and ladder conditions. If you have a bit of excess currency sitting around then there may be a good chance to put it to use! Watch the card markets for any good pickup opportunities. Oh, and be sure to use this time to keep learning how to play with the new Chaos Legion cards - they'll be around for a while!

Thank you so much for reading all the way to the end. Interested in seeing some more of my writing in the future? Be sure to give me a follow! In the meantime, if you'd like to see some of my recent posts:

Thanks for the comment! It's really easy to react poorly to a bad situation and make it even worse, hopefully some of the people who read this article will be able to avoid that.
