Splinterlands Glint : What to do with it?

Recently Splinterlands has changed the structure of its Ranked Play and End Of Season Rewards. Instead of winning Focus and Reward Points to earn Chests, you now earn Glint - a new, non-transferrable token than can be used to buy Soulbound items from the Rewards Shop. Is this a good thing? I don't know, I guess that's why I am making this post to ask...

So we're still 4 days out from the end of the current season - the first since the introduction of Glint and I've started to earn a few. I'm starting to think about what I am going to do with this Glint and in the process trying to figure out what might give me the best Bang for Buck. Or maybe I should just save up my Glint instead? The Shop currently looks like this :-

I am assuming that the Draw Options are similar to how the old Chests work. I was earning Diamond and Gold Chests before so I'm probably looking at the Veteran Draw or Elite Draw choices if I want to do a Like-For-Like swap and get similar rewards to before. Merits are an option I could take if I want to upgrade my Gladius Cards for Brawling, but I'm fairly comfortable with my Brawl competitiveness at the moment. I certainly don't need any more Potions, the Titles are out of my price range and buying Energy is unlikely to be a good option because I'll probably spend more rewards than I can earn from the extra games played.

So I tried an Elite Draw for 2,500 Glint and this is what it looked like :-

Wow. That's pretty underwhelming. I already have like 200 of those Possessed Puppets so I don't really need 8 more. Maybe I should just save my Glint for now. What about you? What are people out there doing with their Glint? Are you happy with these latest changes?

I was pretty sure I heard matt say in the town hall that we were going to be able to pick what reward cards we wanted so we didn't have extra unless we wanted to. So totally lost as to where the hell this is going lol

I had heard something similar - that picking your cards was the direction they were heading, but its not like that yet. Maybe saving Glint until that time is the way to go.

That was what I thought too, but going for such a draw and getting only possessed puppet, what draw do you now buy to get the desired cards you want? I thought one could just buy wherever cards they wanted with the glint they have

I feel a lot of people are not impressed by the Glint system but it’s not very bad too
It’s quite manageable

Picking what cards you want is an interesting concept, but I can see that leading to certain cards being ignored as those considered more desirable are chosen. This could lead to a situation where what would have been lower value cards become less available when they get released from being soulbound and vice versa for higher value cards.

I think it's a bit of a joke and I know a lot of people feel the same. If people were thinking about exiting the game before, this is pushing them over the edge. With every new token that they create they destroy the value of the previous ones. What's the point of SPS now besides governance voting? Plus the huge nerf they made on rewards at the drop of a hat is pretty ridiculous too. I used to consider Splinterlands a long term hold, but I don't know anymore.

I usually do the master draw, I've gotten a legendary out of it and several gold foils. But sometimes it's nothing buy 15 copies of the puppet.... I'm really unhappy with this change they made...
