Hello splinter nerds

This week splinterlands battle challenge is BRIAR PATCH

This is when the thorn ability is added to all monsters, this rule set is a nemesis to the melee power monsters because thorns only affect them which is why players often use less or no melee in such rule set...

In this kind of rule, when a melee power monster attack the opponent, it suffered a damage of 2 health..

• It loses only 1 health if it has a shield ability...

• It suffers/lose nothing if it has reflection shield

Most time, we get a combination of two to three rule set and we have to select our team in a way that we won't be much affected by the rule set..

I got paired with fatjimmy in a 12 mana battle cap and we were given two rule set...

• Briar patch : All monsters have the thorn ability...

• Earthquake: All non- flying monsters take 2 melee damage at the end of each round..

I was caught in between protecting my monsters from the thorns and also saving them from the earth quake... Fortunately the dragon summoner Brighten bloom with the flying stat was available..

Even though it cost 4 mana, it was the safest summoner for me to use as the mana cap of the battle is low and i won't be opportune to use many flying monsters due to the scarcity of low flying monsters in the earth and death splinter which were the only splinter given in this battle along with the dragon splinter...

The opponent took a risk and came with xander foxwood a 2 mana monster to safe himself enough mana so he can use kron the undying a monster with the last stand ability...

This was to my advantage because my line up was dope!

A low mana battle cap requires using low mana monsters....

• Chaos agent - A 1 mana monster with the dodge and backfire ability, this monster is hard to hit because of the dodge so i like using it most time to causes damage and delay the opponent....

• Failed summoner: I was deliberating on whether to use this monster or use the healer khymer princess but i chose the failed summoner instead because i am not so confident chaos agent will be able to finish the task and i guess right, it didn't last long in this battle and thanks to the failed summoner that helped to receive the hit from the opponent magic attack...

• Fungus fiend: This monster helps to slow the opponent...

• Furious chicken: I used it to fill the void of empty space left after using up all the mana and it is quite useful too, atleast it will take one hit for the team....

• Grenadier: I rely on this monster so much in this battle, incase the opponent comes with flying summoner too, this monster can help take away their flying, if he comes with failed summoner too, this monster have the oppress ability that does double damage to monsters with no form of attack...

• Acid shooter: Last but not the least, it is to support the grenadier, incase the opponent comes with healing monster, this monster can help shrink the health to the last due to cripple ability it possess plus it has the poison ability too...

I really was not expecting the opponent to come with just one fighting monster which was to my advantage, though it could have been another case if i didn't use a magic reflect monster...

The opponent monster suffers a lot from magi reflect, earthquake, poison and cripple effect, so it stand no chance against my team....
