Splinterlands battle challenge using Grund: The battle of giants and dragons

Hello splinter nerds..

Am i the only one loving the new update on splinterlands? First it was the soul bound reward cards that is not sellable, transferrable, can't be delegated nor burn for dec until it is out of print,, then the three battle rules and one thing i notice now is that bots are having hard time..

Unlike before that within the first 2 days of the next season, bot accounts are already dominating the champion leaderboard farming the sps pool...

It was totally different this season, it took players more than 4 days to unlock the champion league and many could not retain that position for long so at the moment we are having just this account in champ and three seems to be renting card hence have low power after losing their cards....

It just felt like the old time when all players struggle for the leaderboard, and it is more fun now without bot knowing exactly what you are going to use... oh well that is that!

This week splinterlands battle challenge is about Grund an earth epic monster!....

The grund is always furious and he possess three unique abilities that makes it more vicious and brutal in battle...

• Double strike: It attack twice in battle, it already possess a high melee power of 4 and now imagine hitting the opponent twice making it 8 power attack per round...

• Trample: It will perform another attack if it kills the monster he is attacking, this is another deadly ability...

• Cripple: Whenever it attacks, it takes away one max health from the opponent monster it attacks and not even cleanse ability can restore that health.....

Even though the grund have all this abilities, i don't use it much in battles because i don't have the confidence of placing it as my tank knowing it won't last long against any of the three mode of attacks, it has no shield to defend it against melee and range nor does it have the magic reflect or the void armor so it is not a strong defender but a powerful attacker...

I had a battle with nikuniku and the first rule stated that all the monsters have the enrage ability, second rule stated that magic hit armor before reducing the health so this is an obstacle for the magic monsters and the last rule stated that all the monsters possess the cripple ability hence with every strike, the monster hit lose one health forever....

It was a 99 mana rule set and i did not have to think so hard before figuring out the right splinter to use and that is the dragon splinter! equipped with all the giant monsters needed to win the battle, the opponent also came with the dragon splinter but we use different summoners....

I hate it when my monsters miss their attacks, so when using the dragon splinter, i come up with the byzantine kitty often because it never miss an attack while the opponent use the new chaos dragon summoner quix the devious....

Just looking at the screenshot above, it can be deduced it is going to be a very tough battle because we both came up with dragons and giant monsters, i made sure to use more monsters with the double strike ability or monsters with two different kind of powers....

GRUND

The grund was my tank but unfortunately it didn't last long because the monster the opponent used as tank Uriel the purifier was much more stronger and the attack was also fatal so i lost my grund in the second round of the battle...

CARNAGE TITAN

I love the titan for his double strike and shield ability, the double strike makes him offensive and the shield makes it difficult for melee and range attackers to defeat him easily in battles, it fit in well in the second position due to the reach ability it possess and it never fails to do well in battles i use it... it actually help to terminate the opponent uriel...

GOBLIN PSYCHIC

I just knew i needed this monster in this battle because my instinct was telling me the opponent may come with magic monsters and that was exactly what happened, he came with four magic attackers and the goblin helps in suppressing their power which gives me more advantage in the battle, plus it helps in healing my tank, i would have gone with khmer princess because of her triage ability but i needed the silence ability more...

THE VIGILATOR

This monster was the third monster i used with the double strike ability and it did tremendously well with its poison ability which helps in defeating the opponent Agor longtail the monster with the taunt ability, my double strike monsters did a lot of damage in this battle and they made the victory achievable....

RUNE MANCER FLORRE

I fell in love with this card the moment it was released just by looking at her power, even though she has no abilities but she has two different kind of attacks which are the magic and range and they are high, her total attack is 7 which makes her damage brutal.. She did really great in this particular battle as her high power helps in disorganizing the opponent set up.....

AGOR LONGTAIL

The last monster but not the least because it was the sacrificial lamb and i am amazed it didn't die because the opponent monsters focus their attacks on it... That was my plan though, it has the taunt ability and it would be the target except the opponent use monster with scatter shot.... It helps to stop the opponent monsters from attacking my other monsters and hence gives me the chance to wreck havoc on the opponent team... !

This battle was tough yet very interesting...
