Splinterlands and Mushroom Seer — Silence Your Opponent

Keep the battle field quiet with the Silence ability.

Forging My Own Path This Week

As I prepared to share a few battles with the Crypt Beetle I realized the monster I really wanted to share was Mushroom Seer. Earth is not my go to splinter, but lately when I suspect I may be squaring off against a heavy dose of magic I love to inflict the opponent with Silence.

The hidden Mushroom Forest at the heart of the Centauri Wood has produced many curiosities in the past, including medicines with strange and otherworldly effects. Recently, fully grown Mushroom People have emerged from this forest. These Mushroom People spread maddening spores everywhere they go.

SUMMONERS

I love the imagery of using a forest dweller like Seer with the Thorns ability. The synergy is perfect. This sets up protection against both melee and magic with the Thorns and Silence abilities.
So much fun to decrease the opponents magic and at the same time increase your own. It's the same thrill I get from using Demoralize and Inspire together or Tarsa with Disintegrator.

THREE WINNING OPTIONS

Battle
What's Interesting About it?
I am facing off against what I expected. My opponent was hoping to crush my team with Obsidian's buff using multiple small magic damage dealers. Seer made sure that didn't happen. Follow the full battle here
Equalizer and Spreading Fury rulesets left me unsure what to expect so I protected against melee and magic. Demoralize, Silence and Thorns in one battle! Follow the full battle here
Grund is always fun to watch, when he is on your side 😀 Under the protection of Thorns, two tank healers and Silence to minimize magic damage he is a force. Follow the full battle here

WHO PLAYS NICE WITH SEER?

Card
Synergy
Silence lowers the opponents magic and Void takes care of and extra magic damage. Only the heaviest magic damage dealers will hit. The lack of armor leaves Unicorn open to melee, which is why I like Mylor with this play.
Any excuse to use Grund works for me. It is a bit of a stretch to call this a synergy with Seer, but his high health does protect Seer from some extra hits.
An extension of the above two cards. Seer is squishy and the longer the tank can stand up the less shots that will come its way.
Taunt draws more fire away from our squishy star
I love placing debuffs on my opponent. I would love to get a battle out there using Demoralize, Thorns, Taunt, Silence and Void up front. This is again a stretch of a synergy, but it is so much fun when it is deployed.

WRAP UP

Seer isn't the right play in every situation, but what card is? However, for just over 1 DEC a day on the rental market, or $13 to purchase, it is a great play to have up your sleeve. I love big bruising teams that deal a ton of damage, but sometimes applying the right debuff to prevent your opponent from having a big bruising team is the correct play.

I always play water magic and that's always silence me with the void tank.
