Splinterlands Share Your Battle — Tide Biter

I Finally Upgraded
I have had Tide Biter in my collection almost from the first day it was released as a new reward card. Unfortunately I never upgraded and as a level one card it didn't fit in with a majority of my strategies. Flying Squid is a heavier hitter with Reach, and even in Little League matches I typically choose Pelacor Bandit and Uraeus with Sneak before using Tide Biter. After getting beat in a match where all cards had the Blast ability, I decided it was time to upgrade to level three for the extra melee attack and Reflection Shield.

The vampire now simply known as the Tide Biter was once a human. He was a sailor who loved the seas, and all of his adventures were successful due his powerful water mana spells. As a mage and captain of his ship, he commanded great respect and admiration. When a vampire attack caught his ship on the open ocean, however, he was nearly killed. Bitten and thrown to his death in the water, the sailor thought his time had come.

Standout Qualities
The obvious use for Tide Biter is for matches with the Explosive Weaponry ruleset. Being able to absorb the blast damage is a game changer. After upgrading to level two it also becomes a solid choice for Little League rulesets as it will do two damage from behind.

BATTLE EXAMPLE
Here are two great battle examples in which Tide Biter was the MVP, absorbing blast damage left and right 💥💥💥
![]() | Here is a perfect example of Reflection Shield dominating the battle. Tide Biter was able to absorb over six attacks of Blast damage! |
![]() | In this battle my opponent likely went in feeling confident about their chances as Obsidian often owns Kelya. Tide Biter was able to absorb a couple of blast attacks and I ended up taking this battle by one attack! |

Lineup Examples
| NOTES | |
|---|---|
![]() | A decent low mana cap lineup. If you are not worried about blast Uraeus may be a better play than Biter because of the armor, but Biter has more health |
![]() | The extra one mana opens up the ability to use Xenith Monk and have the Heal ability up front. |
![]() | Requires a large mana cap, but a solid mixture of magic and melee attack that will hold up well to blast damage and deal out a serious amount of its own damage! |

Wrap Up
I should have at least upgraded Tide Biter to level two a long time ago for the extra melee damage, but at level three the Reflection Shield is a major asset. I haven't yet used Venator to have the Reflection Shield ability option for other splinters, but seeing how well it works with Tide Biter, it may be the next card I check out.
