I enjoyed this week's battle challenge. Venari Knifer is one of those cards I feel like you need to have, but it needs backup. It is screaming to be a tank, with a lack of ability to attack from behind, but it lacks any armor of its own . This leaves it fairly vulnerable up front and with a six mana cost for seven health it is a tough cost to pay.

Why is it a card I think you need to own then, well it has the Thorns ability at level one. With a bit of assistance from some extra buffs and/or opponent debuffs, it can be quite a powerful card.

Like the rest of their kin, Knifers are masters of tools and technology. They've used their knowledge to perfect the Knifer Rig. A deadly weapon powered by magic and pneumatics, Knifer Rigs consist of six fully articulated blades and rods carried on the back. When not in use, they fold away neatly and unobtrusively. When employed, however, they are silent, speedy, and absolutely deadly.

SUMMONERS

Knifer is a bit of a squishy tank with no armor of her own. Reducing the opponents armor is going to help Thorns do more health damage and hopefully level the playing field.	Not an obvious direct synergy with Knifer, however a team with buffed magic attack behind Knifer as a tank can deal some serious damage.

BATTLE EXAMPLE

Battle	What's Interesting About it?
	Here is a great example of Obsidian helping the team behind Knifer. Serpent of Eld can be a nightmare to hit, thorns help give some of the frustration back. The magic in the back row, with Obsidian's buff, can go to town. The tank heal keeps Knifer going strong to help protect the back line longer. Thorns late in the battle takes out Bandit's armor so that Knifer can perform the death blow.

WHO PLAYS NICE WITH VENARI?

Card	Synergy
	Venari is not the beefiest tank. These two can help keep her alive a bit longer. Both also have magic attack allowing a great synergy with Obsidian and damage dealing from behind.
	An extension of the healers above, Demoralize can hopefully keep Knifer alive longer to deal more Thorns damage.
	Knifer is extremely susceptible to magic damage. Silence helps negate some of this weakness.

WRAP UP

Knifer is a card that plays well with several of the Earth splinter buffs. It can be an extremely frustrating card to face off against, but it has to be played with the correct synergy. It allows you to have a bit of Mylor in your life, while still being able to take advantge of Obsidain or Wizard. I currently own a level one Knifer, but am seriously considering upgrading to a level three for the plus one attack. I'm a bit concerned that at level three she loses one health, but hopefully I can upgrade Obsidian to level three in the not too distant future and upgrade Knifer to level four to get that health back.
