My first EOS Diamond Chests

πŸ’ŽπŸ’ŽMoving Up in the WorldπŸ’ŽπŸ’Ž

I made the tough decision at the end of the previous season to move into Diamond on the last few days. I didn't win many battles in Diamond, but it did mean I was able to earn Diamond chests this EOS. Admittedly my deck is not ready for daily Diamond fighting, but I am doing well enough in Gold that I can advance at the end of season for the EOS Diamond rewards, and just possibly pick up a few daily Diamond chest too πŸ˜€ So, how did the experiment turn out...

Results

The first benefit I noticed starting this season is that I started right in Gold III. No slogging through Silver to fight my way back to Gold. Sure, there is a bit stiffer competition the first day or two, but I started off earning Gold dailies from day one. (I actually started the most current season with two Diamond dailies thanks to the carry over πŸ’ŽπŸ˜€) It's not and apples to apples comparison due to the new rewards cards, but look at the difference between January EOS with 46 Gold chests to this recent one with 35 Diamond chests.

11 less chests, but roughly similar results. It will be interesting to see this season to see if last season was a beneficial blessing from the RNG gods, or will the slight odds of pulling better items work out?

This post from the SPL team gives a deep analysis of the new rewards cards and odds of pulling items from chests, but the TLDR is that Diamond dailies have a 0.5% β€” 1% better chance of pulling Epic, Rare and GF cards, and a corresponding less chance of pulling a common card. For items outside of cards there is a 0.5% better chance of pulling packs which is gained by having a half percent less chance of pulling potions.

Last Thoughts

My last two EOS pulls, and the published percentage of pulls, leads me to believe the Diamond to Gold difference is negligible. That being said, being able to start the season in Gold, instead of Silver, combined with the slight percentage increases makes the move to Diamond worth it for me. I am close enough in CP to be able to move to Diamond with minimal rental costs. The interesting factor will be when SPL removes CP levels and converts to staked SPS for tier levels. While I have yet to see any information regarding the levels of SPS required for each tier I am not as rich in SPS as I am in CP so this could play into my decision making. Hopefully as I continue to accumulate SPS from Brawls and chests this will not make a difference, but as there is no information yet on what the levels will be, I'll just have to wait πŸ€·β€β™‚ For now I will continue to keep trying to better my collection and fight my way to Diamond at the end of each season.
