Share your battle: Venari Spellsmith joins the fun to destroy a Bronze League bot

For the #ShareYourBattle challenge this week, the monster was Venari Spellsmith:

Now let's take a moment to consider the state of the Modern Bronze League... πŸ€”

The Droi... Err... Bot Army has arrived and while they're only there as farmers and fodder... we have to wade through them like so much chaff.

With that being said, before Stranger Things... Before taking Frodo to Mordor... There was Rudy...

untitled.gif

What's Rudy you ask?! WHO'S RUDY YOU MAY THINK...?!?

Well... Just imagine Sean Astin, as Sam in LoTR... but instead of taking Frodo and the ring to Mordor... Sean's character is a poor kid from a poor town but goes to Notre Dame instead of working in a factory like everyone else.

He loved football growing up and played through High School... but while Sean Astin's heart is as big as the world is wide... Physically, irl, Rudy was a Hobbit in the land of Men when it came to playing D1 Football, especially at Notre Dame.

However, true to the characters Sean Astin plays... Real life Rudy dutifully went to school for FOUR YEARS, played on the practice squad, hyped the boys up and only asked to play if they were WAY AHEAD. Just Once... His Dream.

The coach continually denied him, despite the players and basically everyone begging him for ONE FREAKING PLAY... Before the final game... Everyo... Wait...

You know what, just go watch Rudy. Go on. Go. Make popcorn. Enjoy.

Ok, don't get me wrong... Rudy is a great freakin' movie but you're probably asking "why in the world is Cap'n going on about Rudy this is a Share Your Battle post????

Well the point is, like in Rudy, the lil guy with the big heart got his time to shine... Let's check out the Venari Spellsmith as he goes to Battle!!!

untitled.gif

When Yodin tapped the Venari's shoulder and said "It is time, young one... let us go lay waste to the bots before us..." The Vernari Spellsmith bubbled with excitement as he knew his Magic would wreak more destruction than ever before as it would be combined with Yodins Blast ability...

With a gleam in his eye, the pulsing of Magic flowing in his veins and adrenaline surging into his system... the Spellsmith took the field of the Arena along with the other Giants of Destruction Yodin had selected..."

The Intro:

I was playing my Bronze Account @llama-kron and selected Yodin. My opponent selected Tarsa for their Summoner... Poor @laubyjohnjoseph and his team was about to meet me and boyz... and while they had an army... We have a Yod... WE HAD A VENARI SPELLSMITH.

Ok fam, leggo!! Time for the Play by Play!!

Battle Rules: 23 Mana + Divine Shield = PERFECT FOR YODIN πŸ‘Ί

Here's the setup:

Turn 1.png

At 23 Mana, I wanted to give Venari Spellsmith his day in the sun... But Yodin + Spellsmith is already 11 Mana so I had to squeeze in the rest of team with 12 mana... time to get creative 😁

At Tank - Antoid Platoon for (4) Mana. Great Tank, has Shield to reduce damage and can take a beating until the rest of the squad crushes the opponent under their barrage...

Behind the tank I put a speedbump in the form of Scorch Fiend... If the Antoid Platoon falls... there's one more obstacle in the way before the enemy gets to my damage dealers... Scorch Fiend = Human Shield... Sorry buddy.

In the 3rd slot... OUR MAIN MAN... THE HEAAAAAAAD HONCHO!! THE STAAAAAAAAAAAR OF THE SHOW!!! THE ONE... THE ONLY!!!!!!!

ULLLLLLLLLLRIIIIIIIIIC VON LICH............ cough VENARI SPELLSMITH!!!

Why 3rd? Because he deals death via Magic so it's best to put him before the Ranged units because they're great at stabbing people from a distance but RUBBISH in a fistfight (Ranged units can't attack from the Tank slot).

Now we have used 15 mana of 23 available and need to back up the Venari... 8 Mana... 3 Slots... Yikes.

4th we have the Halfling Alchemist... Absolutely STELLAR card at 2 Mana! Will reduce enemies attacks (great combo with Antoid Platoon 😎) and has 1 Armor... Which means he MIGHT buy you ONE extra turn before getting squished... if the enemy makes it this far into your ranks 😁

5th is Goblin Fireballer - 2 Mana, Ranged, perfect for the low mana Yodin Squad.

Last but not least... Spark Pixies rounds out the squad... These guys are... giggles... Lighting Fast... HAHAHAHAHA... I mean seriously... At Level 2 they have SIX Speed!! That's... cackles SHOCKING!! HAHAHAHA 😐 #puns

With that being said, my opponent laid down:

Tank: Tusk the Wide (Great choice tbh)
2nd: Radiated Scorcher aka backup meat shield
3rd: Chaos Agent aka Dodgy McSpeedbump
4th: Serpentine Spy (bad news bears for me)
5th: Uraeus aka the Snek with too many Vowels πŸ˜‘
6th: Tenyii Striker

Their strategy was "hide behind the big guy and attack from the rear with sneak"

Unfortunately, while their Tarsa was a L2... All but the Chaos Agent were only L1's... Sad Panda.

Let's see what happened! Bring back the Starting Board for the recap:

Turn 1.png

During Turn 1, my squad opened fire with a BARRAGE of Exploding fire... which took down their Divine Shields both in the Tank position but also BEHIND the Tank!!

We reduced Tusk to only 5 HP (of 13)... we ELIMINATED the RadBoi and damaged the Divine Shield of the Chaos Agent! Not bad for turn one :)

We dished out a good bit of punishment but only took a little in return :)

Antoid lost their Divine Shield to Tusk. Scorch Fiend took a hit from Serpentine Spy while my Pixies took a hit from Tenyii but dodged the Snek.

Here's the board at the start of turn 2:

Turn 2.png

Turn 2 starts off with Spark Pixies hitting Tusk for 3dmg and hitting the Chaos Agent for 2 Splash Damage!! After that, carnage unfolded on both sides as we traded blows and they got my Pixies... THEY GOT MY DANG PIXIES 😭 😭

Antoid Platoon was just chilling... because they were pretty much impervious to the enemy lol...

The Uraeus had lost it's divine shield as had my Fireballer... But Spellsmith was still there... Dishin' out the HURT!

Here's the aftermath of Turn 2 and the board position at the start of Turn 3:

Turn 3.png

As you may have guessed, this ends poorly for the remaining enemy as the Spellsmith and crew make short work of them...

Here's the final turn:

Turn 4.png

My squad stands tall, backed by the tenacious Spellsmith... who finally got to unleash the full fury of his Magic as it was amplified by Yodin and exploded with terrible destructive force, shattering Divine Shields and bringing ruin to the enemy...

The lone enemy remaining, Tenyii Striker, bravely faces his doom and Tarsa accepts defeat at the end of this turn... #sweetvictory

Here's a scene from the battle for your viewing pleasure:

Well, I hope you enjoyed the commentary and play by play action! The Spellsmith had the time of his life and the squad came out victorious under the influence of the mighty Yodin.

I don't particularly like Spellsmith in Bronze but this was a chance to have a little fun with it for the SYB Challenge :P

Thank you for checking out my SYB Challenge! Please join me in game here:

In my opinion #splinterlands is the best #play2earn game out so come try it out!
