Introduce myself - My name is Ryan

Hi everyone! My name is Ryan and I live in Vancouver, Canada. I would like to introduce myself to the Hive universe.

I first heard about Hive after I discovered Splinterlands. I was looking for a Web3 game to play and discovered it. I have been playing Splinterlands for almost a year and am loving it. I find the brawls to be so much fun to play. I would like to dive into tournaments in the next year, but I still have a small collection, so success is proving challenging.

I got into Crypto when I discovered Ethereum mining a few years ago. I built my first rig and made many mistakes along the way. That first rig has been passed on to my father, but the love for crypto remains the same. I came wanting some quick profit and discovered a growing and vibrant community. The best part of crypto for me is the people. So many helpful souls have made my journey possible, especially my guildmates.

I live in a beautiful part of the world. Vancouver is nestled between the ocean on one side and the mountains to the north. It’s common for us to go to the beach here and see Seals swimming by. I feel very fortunate. It is often very rainy here, but when the weather is nice, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. The end of May is especially lovely. Moderate temperatures and sunny days.

I have started learning to program in Python because of my desire to interact even more with crypto and Hive specifically. I don’t know what kind of projects I will build. It is still very early for me. I know ultimately crypto begins with the code, and I want to make my career here. There will always be the need for developers. It may take a long time until I am competent but even simple projects can have utility.

Other than crypto, I love to write and take photographs. I write about mental health. I am a person that lives with Schizophrenia, which is a serious condition that affects how a person views reality. It is not new to me. I have dealt with it for many years and have become relatively healthy. I work full-time and am even getting married soon.
For someone with my illness, recovery is unusual, but it is becoming more and more common. I want to help break the stigma surrounding the illness and show that people with serious conditions can live healthy and happy lives. Ultimately, I want to contribute to the world that has given me so much. I was once told it is not how much we get but how much we give that defines who we are.
Finally, I want to say thank you to the people of Web3 who have taught me so much. Everyone who makes a post on Hive that I get to read has added immeasurable value to my day and life and I appreciate it. Good luck in the New Year everyone!
