A Crypto Story...

Hello everyone,

I would like to share with you how I come to this point where I can call myself Crypto-Native somehow. I missed some opportunities on Dogecoin, tried everything and my journey goes on Hive and I met Listnerds recently.

I'm here on the hive platform for at least 8 months now. But my relation to the crypto world has more history. I think everything started in 2017.

First steps in Crypto

In that year, I and my brother were determined to start investing in crypto. I remember that I was buying a new iPhone with him and we started talking. There were altcoins like DASH, LITECOIN, CARDANO (ADA, when I first heard about it I thought to myself why the name is Cardano but the abbreviation is different) We entered the market where it was high and after 3-4 months, it all went Bearish. We get a little bit depressed and sold some of our portfolios. But we kept bits of different stuff and one of them was DOGECOIN.

It was so cheap those days, so we had 150K Dogecoin from 0.001 ($150): 50K for me and 100K for my brother. We didn't touch it for a long time, it was in my wallet.

That part of our market entry was not so good but we learned a lot of stuff. My brother kept on searching for things.

Our missed opportunity on Dogecoin

Then came 2020, my brother called me one day and asked me to transfer his Dogecoins to his wallet. I did that and because I lost faith in Crypto I sent my Dogecoins to him too.

I think it was the spring and Dogecoin skyrocketed. Its rise to 0.3 an x300 from where we entered; that meant our 150K Dogecoin was now worth $45K. I called my brother and asked what did he do. He said to me "I sold them right before it started rising!"

That was brutal, so unlucky! We talked to each other and I said you never know when it starts rising. At that point, if we did have kept it, we could have boosted our investments and might be somewhere else on our investments right now, but we couldn't 😄

I concentrated on my job and I was newly married so I couldn't track anything on crypto. Yet my brother kept on searching and buying stuff. He was always telling me about how he found about pancake.swap and other things, Binance Smart Chain, etc. But I didn't have time for that. Yet I was learning about those from him.

My Brother gets some serious amount from Shiba Inu

One day, I saw on the news that 2 brothers gained a lot of money from Shiba Inu.

https://twitter.com/cryptoify/status/1393403587145916417

I called him again and asked about Shiba Inu. He said "I have invested and I got x100. But it's not that big, only $2K from $20, yet I started getting more serious."

He started funding his own crypto journey and I learned about some new stuff and started using pancake.swap and other things. He made an investment in some good tokens and gained more. The last time I saw him he was holding an iPhone 13 which is a 5 months salary of a normal job in our country.

Splinterlands Era

I started to go in the P2E direction. I searched about the games and find Axie Infinity, Splinterlands, and some other games. Axie's entry point was high so I moved to SPlinterlands. And I joined the game in June 2021 I guess. After 2 months I realized that the Splinterlands account comes with a Hive account.

I played Splinterlands and bought some cards. It was fun. But I needed to have more CP so I tried to find some solutions for that. I get some good daily DEC rewards, once a 4K drop from dailies. So at one point I sold my cards and bought some quest potions to maximize my daily chests. It turned out that was all about luck and for 20 days my dailies, even though I get 6 from Bronze 1, were not so good.

Hive Era

So I researched and found out about hive blogging. It was a brilliant idea. I started blogging and it was not so good but it's still some extra cash to buy stuff from Splinterlands. Then I decided to get an alt account, and another one later. I was grinding in Splinterlands. But it started to be taking most of my time and I gave the accounts to my brothers.

We started concentrating on Splinterlands contests and other stuff in the hive. We decided to bring all the income to my account to stack it and get more utilities for that. I learned illustrating from my brother and we participated in the Splinterlands Art contest. The payout was nice.

Then at one point, Splinterlands moderators asked me what's my connection to the other accounts. They asked for hive introduction posts with our photos. It was the same feeling that happened to @ueyuey. Cause I was somehow accused of multi-accounting. One of my brothers didn't want to post his photo and left the account to me. The other posted it but didn't feel like posting anymore. I still have plans to bring him back cause he draws so good and he will be very successful if he believes in it.

Yet, now I have 2 alt accounts with more than 50 reputations but I can't use them. Then I started about what I'll do in the hive. I'm slowly getting ore reputation and now I'm at 61. I create very quality content but still, it's hard to make people engaged.

Listnerds Era

Then I learned about Listnerds. I was seeing some stuff around but didn't understand. One day I go full detail and learned more about Listnerds. I joined a week ago.

During this whole week, I got connected to lots of people, exchanged ideas, and saw some amazing stuff on it. Because it is so hard to see good content in a normal blog feed Listnerds emails show me some very intriguing posts and people. Some people I'm enjoying posts are:

@elianaicgomes with all things CTP and listnerds
@therneau with wonderful stories and his family posts
@amirtheawesome1 on especially about Nolan ;) but all good content
@eco-alex on ecology and world problems
@gadrian on p2e and financial stuff
@solymi on hive, listnerds and all things SPL
@mango-juice on very nice SPL tips
@thisismylife for art, travel, and listnerds posts
@bradleyarrow on listnerds
@chris.topher for my childhood references
@bozz on so good suggestions on life and crypto
@generikat with her lovely rural life posts

and many more that I couldn't find right now but I'm enjoying their posts a lot! There are new people coming in every day and I'm enjoying reading stuff that I can't reach normally.

Right now, most of the people around ask me about crypto, NFTs, and Metaverse and I try to tell them about opportunities and risks. I warn them to be cautious and never start investing more than they can endure losing.

My portfolio nearly consists of a base of %20 Ethereum/Bitcoin as stablecoins, %20 Altcoins, %20 Shitcoins, %20 NFTs, and %20 All hive and Splinterlands assets. And I keep learning more and more every day. Nowadays my brother is making NFTs and working on a P2E game project. I'm also their advisor on that P2E game.

Our life mostly has daily stuff going on but we create time for the things that will shape our future. Web3, NFTs (with utility), and Crypto Investments are now a very major factor in our lives and it keeps getting more and more recognition. I'm happy to know about it, invest in it and share stories with people like you all around.

I would be delighted if you can also share your story on your crypto/web3/NFT journey in cooments.

Thanks for reading. Take Care!

Awww, thanks for the shoutout and I enjoyed your crypto story!

My crypto story is a coworker (I used to be a librarian) told me about the blockchain that shall not be names (pre-fork Hive) and the rest is blogging history lol! I did start experimenting with long term hodling in everything from BTC/ETH etc along the way:)

Thanks for sharing this!

Don't worry about your alt accounts. This is a decentralized community. I do use 2 accounts for posting sometimes although I do not post daily.
A very good way to get rewards and especially get more engagement on your posts is to just talk to other people on hive. Comment on their posts and you will see incredible things :)
The more you comment the more people will recognize you. At some point they might start to follow you and before you know it your posts will also make more HP and HBD.
BTW move your HBD to savings to gain 20% APR claim it once a month! Tell your brother that there is a stable coin decentralized giving 20% APR than tell him if he pairs it with another stablecoin on polycub it will make 40+% APR
Thanks for mentioning me. I really feel honored that I inspired you :)

It's important to take our time and reflect on our crypto story. Many people I know started in 2017.

Thanks for the mention too! :)

Ahhh, thanks for the special mention 😊

I'm sorry you and your brother lost out on the Dodgecoin climb. I guess it's all part of the journey, but it hurts nonetheless though.

I've done some ETH mining, until my rigs software started messing around. It was a small setup. 3Gpu miner. The earnings from that saved my bacon though. If it wasn't for that, I'd be dead in the water. The gains from there, and here on Hive has helped me out a lot, even though I despise pulling my crypto reserves.

I'm glad you've found me via ListNerds and looking forward to the journey ahead ☺️

P. S. I'm super happy to hear you're enjoying my stories 👍🤘✌️

You’re welcome.

I think we all have ups and down but at the end of the day we always keep on the track! Are you still planning on mining; ethereum or other coins maybe?

Listnerds has a kinda surprising quality of people, I know there are lots of advertories but still people has great content. Take care

Unfortunately, here in South Africa, we're having major issues with the electricity supply.

Not only are the costs extremely high, but we have regular blackouts, due to a mismanaged provider. It's going to take years to fix. So no, unfortunately, mining isn't viable for me anymore 😌

Hope everything works out fine for you and your country. My country; Turkiye is going down on a very untasty trend. Everything, including energy, doubled or tripled in price in only 2 years.

Phew, that's not good. Ours scaled gradually over the past 12 years, with more than double the rate of inflation to 'fix' the grid. Well, it's still broken, haha. Anyway, nice to meet someone from Turkey 😊

Nice to meet someone from South Africa too 🙂 One question, Elon Musk's original country is South Africa, am I right?

Good for you and your brother that you entered crypto almost 5 years ago. My story is short. I entered crypto in just August last year through the influence of my eldest son. It was then that I realized the convergence of technology, finance, and online games. I never thought that by registering an account on Splinterlands, I will be introduced to Hive. As for ListNerds, I am closed for 2 months now. My recent interest is to read about Eurodollar and to learn content marketing.

I think these are good places where you can capitalize your efforts so the more effort, time and attention you give the more you get rewarded. Even it is a game, a blog or anything like that. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your story. !PIZZA

It's a journey but I don't really think investing into DOGE or SHIBA would be great choices. If you find some opportunities, I don't see any reason to reject it so both Splinterlands and Listnerds are quite good choices.

I have been on Steem/Hive adventure since 2019 and I still feel I know nothing 🤣
