Gladius Cards are irresistable, but should you always choose them over others in Brawls?

Hello Splinterlands Fam,

I had a match today, a brawl match. And I had this very odd moment when I need to make a choice.

I'm always playing on Alpha/Beta section of the Brawls. It is a hard spot to fill but I always play with all the choices around by renting and trying to develop my gameplay all the time! This also helps my Guild to get those extra hard-to-earn points.

It was a very basic ruleset:

No magic; so you can't go Alric about it 😁 No earth also, cause people are using Lyanna formations. And also no Fire; fire can give you a very low mana strong team with a Cerberus. The obvious was to go Death.

I rented Zintar Mortalis, I usually have it around but sometimes my long-term rentals (I rent it for 30 days usually) get canceled.

So there is an obvious choice there for the frontline, Haunted Spirit:

And yet, for the backline I had choices. I only had 4 mana left. And I didn't have 2 of 2 manas efficient team. So I concentrated on a 1 strong ranged attacker, 3 or 4 mana. My choices are Twisted Jester and Whistling Damon.

There is a very irresistable thing about Gladius cards: they have an extra Bloodlust ability. And it's very convincing to use it because if it kills someone than it just upgraded +1 at all stats. That's huge!

But this is only valid on long plays and complex strategies I think. In this very limited set of choices I went for our beloved oldy Twisted Jester, it has 1 more health also. And also I might be a little bit attached to cards that I know better 😁

I guess my rival had the same dilemma but went for Gladius Card instead. Here's the battle link!

So, as you see my Twisted Jester used the advantage of 1 extra heaLth. It seems so obvious but still we always have difficulties to choose the best one over the card that has potential that might have never be practical in every situation.
