This is my weekly battle mage secrets submission with the Theme Briar Patch

We are very close to finish the first month of the new calendar and also very close to finish the Splinterlands season. This season I started with a 2500 rating, so this time I have just 33 season rewards in my game chest. Previous season I finished battling in diamond League. Now again going to claim my season reward playing in Gold League. It is an alternate method. One season I claim my rewards battling in diamond League and the next season I claim playing in Gold League. In this season I never tried in modern format. In wild ranked I have already unlocked Diamond League.

Theme- BRIAR PATCH

Now the players are very advanced. With the arrival of reflection Shield monsters, it is a very difficult task for the player to defend. I used to be the fond of Mylore Crowling but I sold out it. There is specific reason for that. As I have already said that current players are next level players. Beside it Riftwatcher, Soulbound and Rebellion made the thing more easy to set up their battle squad. In Briar Patch all monsters will get Thorn ability. And when a Melee attack target them will get return 2x damage by Thorn. You will see that only single Scavenger ability Melee monster was in opponent's battle squad while there was no Melee monster in My Battle squad.

THADDIUS BROOD AS MY SUMMONER

In Armored up and Briar Patch battle ruleset Thaddius Brood is best option with Phantom Soldier and other Headwinds ability monsters. Mostly players comes with magic additional summoners like Obsidian and Dragon summoner Dilwyn Dragonscale in Armored up and Briar Patch battle ruleset. Earth unit was disabled, so it was possibility to use Dilwyn or Range additional summoner. I was careful taking my battle squad against magic attack and Range attack. My summoner selection was to protect my battle squad with magic attack. You will see that I was using Phantom Soldier and Headwinds monster Riftwing. Thaddius Brood is a 4 mana rare monster from the Death unit that provides silence and weaken ability.

BATTLE RULESET AND MANA

It was just 29 Mana game play in which only four elements were active in the form of Dragon, Death, Water and Life. Due to Briar Patch, Born again and Armored up battle ruleset, it was clear that maximum card will be with magic and Range attack. There were two option Thaddius Brood and Ilthan for me to choose my summoners. Armored Up battle ruleset made me to think to use Thaddius Brood.

Briar Patch
All Monsters will get Thorn ability that will Thorn to Melee monsters.

Born Again
All Monsters will get Rebirth/ Resurrect ability after first damage.

Armored up
All Monsters will get additional two armor beyond cards and summoners stats.

BATTLE LINEUP AND TEAM COMBINATION

I was using six monsters in 29 gameplay. I was not in favour of Melee monsters that's why given priority to magic and range attack monsters. If I use life unit summoner Ilthan, then will be fail to protect from magic monsters. Finally decided to use Silenced ability summoner Thaddius Brood. To protect from Range attack I was using single monster Riftwing with Headwinds. To protect from magic attack, I was using Silenced ability monster Phantom Soldier. In Briar Patch or with magic, Range reflect monsters, I always prefer Amplify ability monster. If you will see my battle squad, then you will find that I was using two magic Monster 2 Range monsters and two Monsters without attack in the form of Lord Arianthus and Riftwing. It was a perfect team combination that help me for a comprehensive win..

LORD ARIANTHUS

This is my best and favorite card from Neutral Element. It's name is Lord Arianthus. This legendary card does not have any attack abilities.I was using level 3 of it. It has four abilities of its own. Which is enough to win any battle. It's Shield, Void, Magic Reflect and Thorns ability is sufficient for a normal battle lineup. It is only five mana. There is one speed and it has a total of 8 health. I placed this card in the first position. With the Shield ability, it reduces the range and damage of Melee attacks from the opposition team. It's void ability, reduces magic attack. Likewise it is my favourite legendary in any battle ruleset.

RIFTWING

This is a 4 mana Chaos Legion legion edition common card from Death unit. Seeing it's utilty I upgraded it into level 8. At this level we get so many abilities like Flying, Scavenger, Backfire and Headwinds. There was a single reason to use this monster in battle squad to use it's Headwinds ability. It was Briar Patch ruleset, so there was less possibility to use Melee monsters. To support My Battle Square from magic Monsters I was using Phantom Soldier with Thaddius Brood and to protect from Range attack, I was using Riftwing with Headwinds. At level 8 we get 5 speed and six health. This is non attacking common monster.

PHANTOM SOLDIER

This is an Epic card from death unit. It is a 8 Mana magic monster. I was using 5 level of it and at this level we get 10 health, 3 magic attack and 3 speed. This Monster comes with three abilities Silenced, Flying and Void. This Monster always be impactful with the combination of Thaddius Brood especially against magic Monsters. I was battling with Briar Patch and Armored up battle ruleset, so this Monster was going to be useful against magic monsters. I placed this monster at third position to protect from magic blast.

SOUL STRANGLER

There was only single reason to use this Monster to use its pretty good four Range attack. Beside it, I was looking for appropriate monster in 29 mana. It is a rare monster in three Mana. Including this Monster there were four Monster below 4 Mana. Only Phantom Soldier and Lord Arianthus were above 4 msns. It is a Chaos Legion edition Rare monster. We get no abilities inside this monster. Just 4 range attack, 3 speed and three health at level 6. This Monster was getting an additional ability, two armor and Thorn due to the battle rule set. I was using this Monster at 4th position to provide enough chance for attack. No doubt it is a fantastic card in little League ruleset.

WEIRDING WARRIOR

This is an Epic Chaos Legion Edition card from Death unit. I was using Lord Arianthus at first position so I decided to support Thorn and magic reflect with Amplify ability of it. I was using level four of it and at this level we get 2 Range attack, 3 speed and 2 health. This Monster comes with two abilities Amplify and Shatter. All these abilities are enough in 2 Mana. I was using this little League Monster in 5th position. Beside it, it was fit in Briar Patch as hardly any team think for Melee monsters in Briar Patch.

LIFE SAPPER

This is an useful rare card from death unit in three Mana. I was using this Monster because of its life Leech ability. I was thinking if my opposition teams with Magic reflect monsters then it can be effective with Life leech ability. It is also a Chaos Legion edition Rare card with two magic attack and 3 speed. There is two abilities inside this monster. Life leech that we get from first level and redemption that we get at max level. It is very low health Monster so we should not try to place it at last position, rather we should try to place it in middle. Due to Briar Patch I was little relax from Melee monsters.

DID MY STRATEGY WORKED WELL? WILL I TRY DIFFERENTLY IN NEXT TIME?

To be honest my strategy and plan worked very well. I set up my battle squad taking magic Monsters and range attack Monsters. To support this combination I was using the Silenced ability monster Phantom Soldier and Thaddius Brood. To protect from range attack I was also using Headwinds ability monster Riftwing. To make the attack ineffective, I placed Lord Arianthus at first position. High was also using Amplify ability monster in the second last position to make more effective to magic reflect and Thorn. You will see that when I finished the battle there was only single damage happened from my side. So I can say that my strategy and plan worked very well. Yes next time I will do some change according to new battle rule set.
