This is my weekly battle mage secrets submission with the Theme Going the Distance.

I like this ruleset very much as I have Return fire ability summoner ILTHAN.
Beside it I like to use one monster with Martyr ability to strengthen fellow Monsters. Till now there is two summoner with Return Fire ability. One is Ilthan from Life unit and second is Lir Deepswimmer from Water unit.
Before it Yesterday night splinterlands 5 year initiative ended, prizes distributed among the players who burned their Dec for this initiative.
I too participated in this initiative and burned 45k Dec. My rating watch 949 in leaderboard and there was 10x chance for getting prize.
Today morning when I woke up and got option to claim prize then I was very happy but when I clicked to claim then there was sad world "Sorry you didn't get any reward"
I know this already because just burning 45k Dec is not sufficient amount to get the prize. I am happy that I can use that Dec as Guild power to strengthen our guild buildings.

FEW WORDS ABOUT GOING THE DISTANCE
This is a fantastic rule set in which only Range Monsters can be use. Yes you can also use the monster with double attack ability with the combination of Melee + Range and Magic +Range.

This is one of the best summoner from Riftwatcher edition. This is an epic card with for health that provide Return Fire buffs to the Monsters. I purchased this Monster with the beginning of
Riftwatcher, when it's price was $7 for a single card. I could not afford
Lir Deepswimmer so decided to purchase
Ilthan. To be honest since then I am enjoying a lot especially in
Going the Distance ruleset. Need to purchase one card with close range ability in high Mana and health. Beside it one Headwinds monster in 4 mana will be great with Ilthan.

BATTLE RULESET AND MANA

AIMLESS
According to this battle ruleset all Ranged and magic attack Monster gets scattershot ability in which they targets their opponent's monsters in a random way instead of their actual Stats.
LOST LEGENDARIES
It means legendary Monster and Epic Monster will not be available for the battle, one have to battle with rare and common Monsters.
GOING THE DISTANCE
With this battle ruleset only Range Monsters will be available for the battle..

TEAM COMBINATION AND CARD SELECTION
It was 60 Mana battle gameplay, so there was plenty of option to choose High Mana Monsters. Unfortunately it was going the distance ruleset, so it was in limit. I won this battle but I made a mistake using three Mana Monster without attack at front position. I could use close range monster but I wanted to use Martyr ability that's why I chosen that for first position.
I was using all monster with range attack except of single card that was War Chaang with combo of Melee and Range. My priority was high health Monsters to provide enough chance for Return fire. There was no card with close range ability while my opponent was using armour base Monsters.

VENARI MARKSRAT

I really like the going to distance battle rule because because of this battle rule, whatever cards are used in battle, they will only do range attacks. And I have a summoner with the Return Fire ability in Life Element to deal with ranged attacks. I put venari Marksrat in the first place. Which is of three values. Which I have used in level 5 of this battle. Performs a Range attack with two attacking speeds. It has four health. It has two abilities of its own, martr and Snare. The abilities it got from the Battle Rule are Scattershot and the abilities it got from my summoner are Return Fire. Although it attacks from any position other than the first position. When this card is eliminated in Martr ABCD, it will increase the power of the cards around it. In Snare Ability, when this card attacks a card that has Flying Ability on it, it will end. In the Scattershot ability, it can attack any card. In the Return Fire ability, when a card makes a range attack on it, it will fire back and deal damage.
WAR CHAANG
I put a two level war Chaang on the second position. Which is of 7 mana, with three attacking speeds, two Melee attacks and one ranged attack, it has 9 health. It has its own Retaliate ability. ie when hit with a Melee attack, monsters with Retaliate have a chance of attacking their attacker. It also has scattershot and return fire abilities due to the battle rule and my summoner. Ranged and Magic attacks hit a random enemy target in the Scattershot ability. And in the Return Fire ability, when hit with a Ranged attack, Monsters with Return Fire will return reduced damage back to their attacker. Because this card attacks both range and melee, it is very beneficial to use this card in battle rules like melee myham and super sneak.

WAR PEGASUS
war pegasus is a great card. I have used this card as a level 4 gold card. The one with Mana makes three ranged attacks with four attack speeds. He has two abilities of his own, Flying and Shatter. Due to having a flying ability, when a card with a non-flying ability melee or range attacks on it, the chances of its attack being missed are high. Due to the shatter ability, when this card attacks someone, all their shields are damaged. It also has scattershot and return fire capability. In the Scattershot ability, this card can attack any card. And in the Return Fire ability, when a card makes a range attack on it, it gives less damage than the damage it would have caused to the card that attacked it. I put this card in the third position because range attack cards can attack from any position other than the first position.
AIR ELEMENTAL
Air elemental is one of my favorite cards. I have used this card at level 5, maybe that's why it is doing 4 range attack with 5 speed. It only costs 5 mana and has a total of 6 health. It has its own Dodge ability, it has the Scattershot ability because of the Batter rule, and it has the Return Fire ability because of my summoner. Dodge Ability has a higher chance of missing Melee and Ranged attacks. In Scattershot Ability, it can attack any random card. And in return fire, when a card makes a range attack on it, it will return and damage it. Because it attacks range, it can attack from any position other than the first position. That's why I put it at the 4th position so that it can get more chances to attack.

SILVERSHIELD SHERIFF
Silvershield Sheriff is also my favorite card. This is of no mana. At one level it does three range attack but because I have used it at level 6 it is doing 4 range attack with 4 attacking speed. It has a total of 5 abilities, 3 of its own. Which is Snipe ability, Piercing ability and Protect ability. In Snipe ability here Targets enemy Monsters with Ranged, Magic, or no attack that are not in the first position. Piercing ability in this
If Melee or Ranged attack damage is in excess of the target's Armor, the remainder will damage the target's Health. Protect gives 2 shields to all partner cards here in the ability. It has the scattershot ability because of the battle rule, and the return fire ability because of my summoner. I put this card on the 5th position. Because it attacks range so that it can get a chance to attack as many times as possible. Because ranged attack cards can attack from any location other than the first location.
SUPPLY RUNNER
Supply runner is a card of only 6 mana. It does two range attacks at one level but I have used it at level 8. So it is doing three range attack with five attacking speed and it has 5 health. This card can also attack from any position except the first position. That's why I put it last. It has only one ability, Swiftness. In which it increases the attack speed of all companion cards. Due to the Battle Rule, it has the Scattershot ability in which it can attack any random card. And it has the return fire ability because of my summoner. in which
When hit by a ranged attack, monsters with Return Fire will return less damage to their attacker

DID MY STRATEGY WORKED WELL? WILL I TRY DIFFERENTLY IN NEXT TIME?
It was a battle in which one can use Dragon splinted to use at least three card with double combination Melee and Range. Dragon Splinters was active but my priority was return fire that's why I chosen Ilthan as my summoner. Opponent's Armored based Monster concern for a while but it was Return fire that finally brought smile over my face.
I was looking for high health Monster but Legendary was off so I have to choose the best six card from rare and common. In this also I gave more importance to health so that enough time is available for Return fire.
My second priority was speed that why I chosen supply Runner with swiftness ability in battle squad despite law health. You will see it was Speed, Return Fire and pretty good health that helped me for win.
Yes I will do some change in next time but according to battle rule set and availability of the splinter.
