I'm paying more attention to the game and learning about card values. I'm not good at that type of thing but would want to buy cards that help me in bronze so I appreciate your post.

Well my post will help you with an understanding of editions' bottom end fluctuating and I believe it will show the trend over MONTHS of how they go up. Alpha cards were all under $0.02 at some stage as well one time. So go ahead and play to earn!
In my opinion, you start with great common and rare starters that can help you win games. To get the edge on your opponents, you go ahead and buy 1 or two either Epic or Legendary cards for each splinter to give you an edge over vanilla.
Once you have played enough battles and developed and knack for a playstyle, you should be able to have an idea of what those are.
As for the lowest on MY list, the Lava Launcher for Fire and Harklaw for Death are really useful!
Lava Launcher is like a 3rd tank, able to shoot from the front. So Living Lave, Radiated Brute with Reach and Lava Launcher with Close Range can really protect your front. (Just not against Sneak)
Play Harklaw with the Disintigrator and it goes -1 Melee and then Shield does another -1 Melee and Ranged. Useful in many rulesets!
