This Is Not The Mirror Match You're Looking For

Rule Sets: Equalizer and Divine Shield

My opponent for this fight uses a Bortus similar to mine. This means that this is a Bortus vs Bortus fight. That being said, the fight wasn't a mirror match because despite using the same summoner though our tactics couldn’t be more different. For example; my opponent main source of damage is magic while mine is range and melee.

We do have our similarities though besides using the same summoner. For example; we both have a tank and a tank healer (Crustacean King). But that’s the limit of the similarities between us.

Now let’s analyze our monster cards. My monsters are Torhilo (tank), Sand Worm, Crustacean King, Axe Master, Water Elemental, and Venari Wavesmith in that order. My opponent has Serpent of Eld (tank). Djinn Oshannus, Phantom of the Abyss, Ghost Captain, Crustacean King, and Spirit Miner.

Just looking at the cards alone, one could see that my opponent have superior cards with his two legendary cards. Unfortunately, my opponent made a crucial mistake in this battle which resulted in my victory and his defeat: His summoner.

Just like what I’ve said earlier; his main source of damage is magic. And yet, instead of choosing Alric so he could add + 1 to his monsters’ magic damage, he chooses Bortus. Not only did his Bortus have very little effect on my unit (my only magician is Venari Wavesmith, my own Bortus reduced all of his magic unit’s attack by one thus weakening him.

I believed that if he uses Alric on this match, my opponent would have won especially considering how powerful his cards were. This was especially true for the Phantom of the Abyss who made me eat misses after misses, and his Ghost Captain whose ability, Affliction, prevented my tank from getting healed by Crustacean King.

So with almost everything in my opponent’s favor, victory should have been assured. But since he made a fatal mistake of using Bortus, the fight ends up in my favor.
