Battlemage Secrets - The Summoners Have Lost Their Voice

In this week’s Battle Mage Secrets, we look at the Silenced Summoners ruleset and see what strategy works when your summoners do not buff/debuff nor grant/use any abilities. Since the Summoners have been taken out of the battle equation, it is best to use your highest level summoner at the lowest mana cost.

For this battle, I've gone with Mylor Crowling as my summoner because I have him at level 4 and he only costs 3 mana. While the 2 mana summoners are cheaper, that I have him at level 4 would more than make up for it. Also, this being a high mana battle, 1 mana doesn't make much of a difference.

1st position - Mycelic Infantry - Slow to attack and with its Shield ability to absorb enemy melee attacks.
2nd position - Sporcerer - Wanted its Rust ability to remove two shield from my opponent's units
3rd position - Mushroom Seer - Silence ability will help by reducing the magic attack of my opponents by 1
4th position - Queen Mycelia - Protect ability increases the shield of my units by 2 in case my opponent relies on melee attacks
5th position - Goblin Psychic - A healer to heal my front attacker during the battle
6th position - Djinn Biljka - Camouflage ability to evade sneak attacks but also Void ability to absorb 1 magic damage per hit

With Summoners being silenced, using cards that grant abilities as well as strenghthen your own units or weaken opponents have an outsized effect. Having used many such units, the battle went along as planned. Particularly with the Mushroom Seer weakening my opponent's magic attacks.

Also effective was having a tank healer that helped to heal my front attacker. The timing was just right at the start of each round, which meant that as my opponent's units started dying, they did less damage than the heal per round. Eventually, I won the battle with all units still alive on the battlefield.
