Everyone's Feeling A Little Vulnerable Right Now

In this week’s Battle Mage Secrets, we look at the Unprotected ruleset and see what strategy works when all armor is removed from units and they cannot gain any during the battle. This doesn't affect the Shield or Divine Shield abilities. In the Unprotected ruleset, typically melee and range attacks become more useful than in traditional battles.

For this battle, my summoner is the Astral Entity as I want to evade my opponent's melee and range attacks that I think he will be using because of the lack of Shield. The Resurrect ability will also be useful.

1st position - Cursed Windeku - Thorns damage will be very helpful if my opponent decides to go with a melee attack strategy
2nd position - Phantom Soldier - Decent speed and health. Plus flying helps to evade melee and range attacks
3rd position - Silent Sha-Vi - I want to get some sneak attacks against my opponent and no shields makes it more deadly
4th position - Venari Bonesmith - The main thing is its poison ability and life leech to gain health during the battle
5th position - Haunted Spider - Again, poison ability is the main reason for choosing this card. If it can poison some of my opponent's units, it will make the battle a lot shorter
6th position - Octopider - It can demoralize my enemy's melee attackers and also does decent range damage. Plus it is pretty quick too

Up to the third round, it was fairly evenly matched and we both had three units each. In fact, I'd say my opponent had the upper hand. My opponent did have one vulnerability, though, and that was his two Range units at the back. Once they reached the front spot, they were sitting ducks.

And eventually, the Bonesmith's Life Leech ability was very useful in helping it survive longer and not to mention, its Poison ability also did some very useful damage along the way.
