It's Important To Have Units With At Least Two Attack

When selecting units for the battlefield, do you optimize for health, for speed or for attack damage? Then comes the next question, is it better to have many smaller units or just a few strong ones?

There are definitely arguments to be made for both but in most rulesets, unless the abilities of the many smaller units stack on top of one another, I'd argue that it's better to have a couple of strong ones. Ideally, most units on the battlefield should have at least two attack and here's why.

Here's a recent battle of mine that was restricted to Magic attacks only. So I put Iziar out in front with its taunt and void ability. It would attract the attacks from all my opponent's units and at the same time, reduce them by half, rounded down.

Look at my opponent's lineup. It's a pretty decent lineup but notice how all the units do only 1 magic damage? Against Iziar, that becomes 0 because of Void.

And so, after three rounds, I won the battle, with my units taking 0 damage throughout. It was kind of funny and probably the first time I've had such a result. Here's a link to the battle: https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_106ff17f2141986935adc2bd049a9b9e&ref=charcoalbuffet

Silence

What would really turbo-charge this strategy is to pair Iziar with the Crystal Werewolf, which is the only neutral/life unit that has the silence ability from level 1.

Alternatively, you can also get a couple of other cards like the Elven Mystic or Nalara Genk at higher levels to employ the same strategy. Your opponent would need at least three magic damage to breach your defenses and as we know, there aren't that many cards that have that kind of firepower.

The strategies on Splinterlands are really endless with all the permutations and combinations of abilities and rulesets.

Your opponent couldn't not even get one shot because of that void magic. Complete annihilation. I'm always scared of that void magic. You know you've lost before the game starts

Yeah and I definitely see the power of combining Void and Taunt.
