Rise Of The Weapons Trainers
Things are rarely static in Splinterlands and the release of Rebellion and Chaos Legion has brought some new and exciting abilities to the battlefield. New abilities means new tactics that players need to familiarize themselves with or get left behind.
One that looks pretty interesting right now is the Weapons Trainer ability. What this does is it grants adjacent units that have no attack the same attack power as the card. What's the big deal? Well, there are lots of no attack cards that were previously only used as buffers. Weapons Training provides a way to make them more useful in battle.
Cards with Weapons Training
The biggest problem with Weapons Training is that there aren't many cards with the ability. Here are the Soulbound ones that you can only get from chests:
And here are the ones that you can buy on the market:
So there are 9 cards with the ability. The ones that I've been using in battle are Ava the Undaunted and Aves Sturgis. The neutral Moxian Rebel is also an interesting one because you can combine with another Weapons Trainer to get multiple attacks.
Ava the Undaunted In Action
So here's a battle where I used Ava the Undaunted to good effect. Notice how Almo Cambio and the Gelatinious Cube start out with 0 attack. But with Weapons Training, they gain 3 range attack each which is a pretty significant 6 extra damage along with 12 health each. That's a lot of health for my opponent to grind down.
The battle went really well and I'd say I ended even stronger than compared to where I started. In large part, thanks to the additional 6 damage from the training but also they had 30 health between them. It would be really hard for my opponent to break that down.
You can watch a replay of the entire battle here: https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_6a0a8122973746c8bf40103f36505e7f&ref=charcoalbuffet
Things are never static in Splinterlands, like I said in the beginning, and Weapons Training is an ability that adds a world of possibilities to the battle strategies.
That was a genius lineup. Halving the enemy's melee attack, using the Mylor, using weapon's training, and putting a card that even reduce melee attack. The opponent wasn't going to survive past round four. Good game. I've lost always to the Mylor, most of the time. such a formidable summoner.
Thank you! Mylor is definitely a beast especially in those melee or no magic rulesets.
For an older generation summoner, it's also holding up value too.
