Splinterlands Prices In DEC Terms Seem A Lot More Reasonable

Splinterlands has been on a tear over the last two months and a lot of the card prices seem rather high compared to what they were. Who remembers when you could pick up legendaries for just a dollar?

Now, the cheapest legendary would set you back $13. The Druid Grog which used to go for a dollar is now worth $29. Wow!

Reframing

It seemed crazy but I was going to bite the bullet and pick up a couple of the new cards. Then when I hit the buy button, it showed me the DEC price.

1,320 DEC for a Biljka. Now, as everyone knows, the DEC price is way above the peg. In fact it is almost 10x the peg at $0.00953.

But if we were at the peg prices of DEC, a Biljka would only cost about $1.30. Similarly, an Oshannus would be $3.70.

The other reframing I do is how many battles would it take me to make up for the cost. Earning ~30 DEC per battle, it would take me around 45 battles to 'earn' back a Biljka. That's about 4 or 5 days of battling.

An Oshannus would take about a season to make that amount back. Very reasonable.
