Splinterlands Beginner Battle

I finally started playing SplinterLands, just a newbie at the moment losing a lot of games:), looking to gain more experience about the game as a former Hearthstone player. I loved watching this battle, and would love some feedback on the strategy if water is a go to or not as the beginner playable cards.
Currently just doing some random matches, trying out the cards and completing daily quests.
