Splinterlands Share your Battle Challenge - [Wave Runner] - A Monster as Plain as the Nose on your Face

Welcome to this post, here I'm gonna walk you through this week's share your battle challenge - Involving Wave Runner, a Reach Meele Monster belonging to the Water Elemental.

In this short post, I'm gonna be revealing my strategies using this monster in Battle; What worked out, what did not, my impressions of Wave Runner, the kind of battles I would employ it for and how often, and finally - My Shared Battle using Wave Runner.

First of all, I must begin by saying I don't find Wave Runner to be a fantastic Monster - I am not really a fan of Meele Reach Monster's in general, but in this case, it almost seems plainer than normal (It seems plainer than the average Meele Reach Monster you come across). Don't get me wrong - All Monsters in Splinterlands are important, but, only where necessary. For someone like me, I usually prefer Monsters that have a few tricks up their sleeves (in other words, sly monsters).

Here is my Battle - WAVE RUNNER MONSTER - CHEL KOBY. The following analysis strongly depends on it so I might as well reveal it already! Let's take all the points below;

What worked out

In my battle(watch above), You can see my team of 5: Seperent of Eld, Wave Runner, Pirate Captain, Water Elemental, (with Summoner Alric) all dealing juicy damage. Unfortunately, I had been paired with a Life Team whose tank is the formidable Shieldbearer (Now all my Monsters are forced to target this Monster alone). This made it necessary that my team kills him off quickly so I don't get killed first(Considering, my opponent's team is attacking ALL of the Monsters in my team) Having a strong attacking team like I did made this possible.

Apart from the Wave Runner's success in dealing Extra Damages as a Reach Meele, the fact of its Speed played a huge role in my success - It isn't noticed on the surface but, if you analyze the Battle closely, you can see this clearly at work. Let me point that out directly - Each Round's attack goes like this; Water Elemnetal(goes first), Serpent of Eld(goes second), Luminous Eagle(goes third), Wave Runner(goes fourth), Mantoid, Pirate Captain, and Shieldbearer(goes last). Because Wave Runner has more Speed(3) than Shieldbearer(2), it was able to deal the final blow which ended Shieldbearer (It could easily have been the other way round, but for Speed). Battle Snippet Below ⬇

What did not work out

- I won this battle, so it is easy for me to say What worked out, after all, I can't really observe what did not. BUT(there's always a but), did you notice that I used Alric (for a bump of +1 Magic obviously), and yet I had no Magic attacking Monster (talk about dumb but sure xD). This could have easily gone wrong if the battle lasted for longer. In the future, here's what I'm gonna do - I would replace Pirate Captain with Elven Mystic, get a bump of 2 magic attack, with the same health[Pirate Captain vs Elven Mystic] (If i had more mana, ofc). Apart from this, I think it was a well-commanded battle, Do you agree?.

My impressions of Wave Runner

- Like I said, it is not my favorite Monster. It has no health restoration, reduced damage, default shield, etc. I think it is a small team Monster - Can it thrive in Big Matches ranging from 25 and above mana cap? I'm not sure, Maybe YOU can try it out and see for yourself?. In other words, I think it would do very well in battles with less than 20 Mana count (During which both teams are focused on dealing the most damage as opposed to sly tactics).

How often I would use Wave Runner

-On average, I use the Magic Element 3 times in 10 Battles. Although that number has been on the rise since I'm finding Magic Element to be a very strong team just like Death Elemental. I would probably use Wave Runner in 60% of Battles because it is a conservative Monster with dependable Attacking Meele. I would generally use it in low-count mana Battles that I know should last for just a few rounds, because that's where the Wave Runner seems to be suited for. For battles with the Water Element, I usually like to put Frozen Soldier in the Second position because of its solid shield.

Again, most of my Teaming and Elemental decisions are made with considerations of my Opponent's previous battles. Say, for instance, My opponent is likely to use the Water Element (and unlike me, he likes to use teammates with the Magic Attack), I would ditch Frozen Soldier for Wave Runner in this case. I hope you understand my thoughts dynamics.

Ooh, I really planned for this post to be shorter, after all, good Mages never explain their tactics in more than 20 words (or is it the other way round?). That would be all for now, I hope you enjoyed reading!. For a bonus, what are your general thoughts about Wave Runner, do you think it's a Monster as plain as the nose on your face? xD!

Wave Runner is a pretty good 2nd row card and makes a great combo with the Serpent of ELD in the front. I don't use him too much these days as I tend to use Water for Strong Magic attacks.

Enjoyed the post, keep up the great content! ✨ #Splinterlands @splinterlands #playtoearn
